The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Local Roundup (Feb. 6): Bethea scores 40, Archbishop Wood tops St. Joseph’s Prep in OT

Archbishop Wood 77, St. Joe’s Prep 63: Jalil Bethea was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring 40 points as the Vikings rallied for the PCL overtime victory on Monday night. Bethea finished with six 3-pointers and scored 26 points in the second half where Wood rallied from a 32-24 halftime deficit. Bethea is the third Wood player to ever score 40, the last being Villanova grad Collin Gillespie.

Upper Merion 72, Bishop Shanahan 64: The Vikings came out of halftime with a 16-9 deficit burst and held on for the nonconference win on Monday night. Allen Cole paced Upper Merion with 24 points.

Girls basketball
Pottsgrove 33, Norristown 29: The Eagles led 18-13 after three quarters but could not make it hold up on Monday night. Briana Minick led Norristown with 11 points. Pottsgrove was led by Aaliyah Freeman with 14 points, 9 in the final frame.
