Delco Roundup: Dorsey’s 21 points lead Chester to victory

Imani Dorsey scored 21 points as Chester edged Executive Education Charter, 55-53, Saturday in a girls basketball game. Ja’Mya Muhammad chipped in 17 points, and Shyne Hall tallied 16 points.

In other nonleague action:

Upper Darby 54, Chichester 11 >> Cameron Ross scored 12 points, Rachel Fitzpatrick and CC Jones added 10 each and Mia Wilson added nine points as the Royals held Chi to five first-half points.

Penncrest 53, Sun Valley 36 >> Bailey Garrison and Kat Harding scored 10 points each as the Lions used a 16-5 edge in the second quarter to take control. Jaina Preuhs led Sun Valley with 12 points. Brielle Wright added eight.

W.C. Rustin 69, Academy Park 30 >> Laine McGurk led Rustin with 31 points to settle the battle of Knights. Alaysia Kinlaw led AP with 15 points. Kiala Bright tallied seven points.

Boys Basketball

Ahkir Keys buried five 3-pointers for a game-high 23 points, and Chichester held Oxford to 11 points in the middle two quarters in a 69-36 nonleague victory.

Zaiyin Keys scored 13 points to go with six steals and four assists. Vince Wildrick added 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Eagles (13-3).

In other nonleague action:

Peddie School 76, Haverford School 65 >> Luke Rasmussen scored 18 points, but the Fords never recovered from an 18-point deficit after eight minutes in New Jersey. KJ Carson scored 11 points, and Billy Rayer added 10.

William Penn 76, Chester 63 >> Breilyn White and TC Cobb scored 19 points each, but the Clippers fell in Harrisburg. Kyree Womack added 15 points.

Hockey

Andrew Knight tallied a second-period hat trick, part of five unanswered goals for Radnor in a come-from-behind 9-4 win over Garnet Valley in ICSHL Central action late Friday.

Knight scored five goals and three assists. Tucker Graham scored three times with two assists for Radnor, which got 21 saves from James Danner.

Garnet Valley had led 2-0 after one, behind goals from Kadon Long and Dylan Kouba.

Strath Haven 3, Springfield 2 >> Nicholas Dignazio’s goal in the final minute of regulation sent the Panthers to a comeback win.

Carson Farrington tied the game at 12:52 of the third. He had the primary assist on both Dignazio’s goal and Charles Leuthold’s in the first period. Leuthold added two helpers. Brock Reid made 34 saves.

Frankie Izzi gave Springfield a first-period lead, and Danny White put the Cougars up 2-1 just 33 seconds into the third.

Conestoga 6, Marple Newtown 2 >> Andrew Pisano finished off his hat trick with a third-period short-handed goal to lead the Pioneers.

Zachery Dembzynski and Tenzee Z’ningray scored for Marple in the second period, and Matthew Beatty made 30 saves.

Boys Swimming

Shane Eckler went 4:50.76 to add the 500 freestyle to his lengthy list of Ridley swimming records in a 101-79 win over Strath Haven

Eckler also won the 200 free, both times outdueling Gavin Shifflett, in District 1 consideration times. Eric Boeckx and Matt Murdock went 1-2 in the 50 free, then Boeckx won the 100 breaststroke.

Brian Chieffo of Strath Haven won the 200 individual medley and 100 free. Harry Hyzer claimed the 100 butterfly.

Girls Swimming

Ella Shifflett swept the distance events as Strath Haven claimed a 101-82 win over Ridley.

Ridley freshman Rori Kennedy outlasted Haven rookie Sylvia Bergstrom in the 200 IM. Bergstrom went on to win the 100 breast.

Caroline Anderson won the 100 back for Ridley, Kennedy rallied to edge Haven freshman Mira Gold in the 100 fly and the Green Raiders’ Ava Keller scored 227.75 to win diving.
