
Unionville high School girls’ basketball coach Fred Ellzy earned his 100th win Saturday as the Longhorns defeated Interboro, 48-10. Leading the way for Unionville (9-3) was Milana Amoss (16 points), Elle Johnson (10 points) and Riley Angstadt (eight points).
Conestoga 51, Strath Haven 34 >> The Pioneers (8-3) were led by freshman Ryann Jennings (16 points, 6 steals, 4 assists), junior Marisa Francione (12 points, 4 steals, 4 steals, 4 assists), freshman Maggie Neary (7 points, 4 rebounds) and sophomore Janie Preston (6 points).
West Chester Rustin 53, West Chester East 36 >> The Golden Knights were led by Laine McGurk, who tallied 20 points, all of them in the first three quarters. Elizabeth McGurk chipped in with 11 points for Rustin, and teammate Ava Panetta added 10 points. For the Vkings, Annalise Kubasko and Annie Kerns combined for 15 points.
Boys’ basketball
Malvern Prep 65, Academy of the New Church 63 >> The Friars won this overtime contest, led by Andrew Phillips (25 points) and Ryan Williams (20 points). Malvern rallied in the fourth quarter, after trailing at the end of three periods by a score of 49-44.
Downingtown East 70, Owen J. Roberts 58 >> The Cougars’ attack was led primarily by three players in this victory — Connor Shanahan tallied 27 points, Ishaan Jha scored 16 points and Micah Hill had 15 points.
Wrestling
Rage in the Cage Duals >> Downingtown East went 2-1 at Garnet Valley High School Saturday, losing to Pennsbury (49-15), with wins over Chichester (51-21) and the Jaguars (37-33). Adham Abouraya (285 pounds) went 3-0 for the Cougars (3-1), with a 4-1 win over Garnet’s Dylan Bledsoe. Steve Elinski (133), Josh Hillestad (145) and Tommy Grizzanti (189) picked up a pair of falls, apiece, for East.
Westtown Duals >> Host Westtown went 3-0 at the 14th Annual Westtown Duals Saturday, defeating Friends’ Central (55-21), Springside Chestnut Hill (66-16) and Father Judge (36-34).
Swimming
Conestoga (girls) 120.5, Villa Maria Academy 60.5 >> In this Friday meet, individual first-place finishers for the Pioneers included Audrey Laganelli (200 free, 1:54.94 and 100 free, 53.14), Naomi Furman (200 IM, 2:14.23), Lily Robinson (50 free, 24.81), Avery Hillier (i-meter diving, 278.48), Maddie Fox (100 fly, 59.38), Mackenzie Nagel (500 free, 5:21.31) and Keira Haas (100 back, 1:00.23).
Malvern Prep 95, Conestoga (boys) 85 >> In this Friday meet, individual first-place finishers for Malvern Prep included Ben Kutufaris (50 free, 22.13 and 100 free, 48.94), Louis DelFra (1-meter diving, 193.07) and Tom Moul (100 back, 55.33). Individual first-place finishers for Conestoga included John Yeniay (200 free, 1:46.23 and 500 free, 4:37.69), Jake Wang (200 IM, 1:55.39 and 100 breast, 59.72) and Brock Whitaker (100 fly, 52.63).
