DLN local roundup: Malvern Prep coach Paul Romanczuk gets 300th win

The Malvern Prep basketball squad defeated Peddie School, 94-72, Tuesday for Friar coach Paul Romanczuk’s 300th career coaching victory. Romanczuk, in his second year of coaching Malvern Prep, won 283 games as head coach at Archbishop Carroll. Ryan Williams led the victorious Friars Tuesday with 27 points (17 of them in the first half), while teammate Andrew Phillips chipped in with 22 points. Malvern Prep led 54-30 at halftime.
Downingtown East 57, Upper Merion 39 >> The Cougars earned their first win of the season, as Connor Shanahan led East with 18 points. Micah Hill-Benitez and Ishaan Jha each added 12 points for the Cougars.
Great Valley 64, Phoenixville 31 >> The Patriots followed up a strong defensive effort against Collegium Charter (allowing only 32 points) with a decisive win against Phoenixville Tuesday. Jaxson Ray led the way for Great Valley with 21 points, and the Patriots received standout guard play from Pranav Hegde and Will Otterbein.

West Chester Henderson 68, Collegium Charter 20 >> The Warriors were led by Francesca Alcaraz (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Whitney Evans (11 points, six steals).
Oxford 45, Penn Manor 27 >> The Hornets earned their second victory of the season, and their scoring was led by Caroline Tipton (19 points), Kate Kline (eight), McKenna Frank (six) and Olivia Voss (six).
Bishop Shanahan 49, Springfield 43 >> The Eagles outscored Springfield 17-9 in the fourth quarter en route to victory. Alyssa Brown tallied 18 points for Shanahan, and teammate Alexa Bojko chipped in with 10 points.
Perkiomen Valley 64, Unionville 54 >> Elle Johnson led the Longhorns’ scorers with 18 points, followed by Milana Amoss with 13 points. Riley Angstadt added eight points for Unionville.
Radnor 52, West Chester East 31 >> Mikayla Kushner scored 15 points to lead the Vikings’ attack in this non-league contest Tuesday.

Wrestling
Haverford School 39, Westtown School 27 >> The Moose got pins from Evan Holgate (138 pounds), Luke Holgate (144), Titus Henderson (190) and Sam Olojo (215), plus a 10-8 win at 120 pounds by Ryan Tookes.
