
The Unionville High School girls’ golf team defeated Downingtown East, 167-180, Wednesday at Whitford CC (9 Holes – par 36). The victory gave the Longhorns a 9-0 record and solidified another Ches-Mont girls golf title for Unionville. The Longhorns were led by Mary Dunigan (36), Mira Patel (season-low 40), Sarina Patel (45) and Reagan Wilson (46). The Cougars’ top scorers were Mia Pace (39), Silvana Gonzalez (42) and Julia Nawalany (48).
Avon Grove 214, Great Valley 222, Oxford 224 >> Emma Rabeno led the Red Devils with a 45 at Inniscrone. Great Valley’s low scorer was Katelyn Grimes with a 45, and Oxford’s top scorer was Julia Carey (52).
Boys golf
Downingtown East 203, West Chester East 207 >> On this match at Honeybrook Golf Club (9 holes, par 35), the Cougars (7-2) were led by James Lambe (37) and Bryan Wright (38). The host Vikings had the overall low scorer in Thomas Baschoff (34).
Girls’ volleyball
Downingtown West 3, Perkiomen Valley 1 >> The Whippets (5-3, 3-1) posted scores of 25-18, 25-23, 16-25 and 25-14 and were led by Camryn Tuffner (11 kills, 11 digs, 3 aces), Darby Weller (10 kills, 4 aces), Melanie Bowman (23 assists, 12 digs), Bella Terra (17 digs), Fallon Mitchell (9 kills), Emma Helveston (6 kills, 2 aces) and Ava Brotze (4 kills).
Haverford High 3, Conestoga 2 >> The Pioneers were led by Cheyenne Bird (18 kills), Ashley Levine (7 kills with 0 errors), Sara Walheim (36 assists) and Zeynep Dogan (25 digs).
Girls’ tennis
Council Rock North 4, Downingtown West 3 >> The Whippets won first singles (Abby Walter) and second singles (Kaelyn Minchak) in straight sets, and won at fourth doubles (Ella Mae Markowski/Peyton Clark) in three sets.
Water polo
Hill School 19, Malvern Prep 9 >> The Friars (2-4) were led on offense by Drew Kennedy (four goals), Patrick Buysee and Patrick Owen (two goals). Carter Marks again played well in goal, while Busyee, Jacob Nowoswiat (five drawn ejections) and Ethan McNally (one goal) were solid on defense.
Field hockey
Kennett 2, West Chester East 0 >> The Blue Demons (5-3 overall, 2-2 league) got goals from Jordyn MacMillan and Kaitlyn Stolp (assisted by MacMillan). Kennett goalie Maddi Sears recorded six saves.
Great Valley 6, West Chester East 5 >> In this Tuesday matchup, WC went up early in the game 2-0 but the lead went back-and-forth throughout all four quarters. With eight minutes to play, Great Valley scored to go ahead by a goal. Leading the scoring for WC East was Anna Capelli with two goals, while teammates Audrey Argonish, Annalise Kubasko and Lydia Bechtel each tallied one. Scoring for Great Valley were Nadia Nemeth with three goals, Kaitlyn Giandonato with two and Eva Nemeth with one.
