Downingtown West notches come-from-behind victory

The Downingtown West girls tennis team swept the four doubles matches to rally for a 4-3 Ches-Mont League victory over West Chester Rustin on Monday.
The fightback for the Whippets started at first doubles as Laure Ayres and Becky Dixon defeated Ava Paneta and Sehaj Kaur in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Sanni Varanasi and Ashritha Dunaboyina won, 6-2, 7-5 at second doubles. Gianna Brown and Katie Legore captured their match at third doubles, 6-1, 6-3, while Ella Mae Markowski and Peyton Clark were victorious in three sets at fourth doubles.
Maya Tashie, Adriana MacNeal and Emma Skinner won their singles matches for the Golden Knights.

Doubles – 1. Ayres-Dixon (DW) def. Paneta-Kaur, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. 2. Varanasi-Dunabotina (DW) def. El. Skinner-Kuhn, 6-2, 7-5. 3. Brown-Lagore (DW) def. Han-Sinton Edwardian, 6-1, 6-3. 4. Markowski-Clark (DW) def. Slachta-Fogarty, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-2.

Golf
Unionville 206, Oxford 236 >> Ryan Megill shot a 39 and Jax Puskar and Charlie Barrickman had 40s each as the Longhorns (6-2) posted the Ches-Mont American victory. Ben Fields paced the Hornets with a 43.
At Wyncote CC — 9 holes, Par 36
Unionville — Megill 39, Puskar 40, Barrickman 40, Lyons 42, Keller 45.
Oxford — Fields 43, McKinney 46, Franjesh 46, Patrick 46, Michael 51, Onick 51.

Kennett 197, Sun Valley 265 >> Griffin Gaughan and Nick Vitale shot 2-over-par 38 apiece as the Blue Demons (6-1, 11-2) cruised to the Ches-Mont American victory at Hartefeld National Golf Club. Grant Urie carded a 39 and Drew Zieg and Chris Murphy had a 41 each.

Girls Golf
Unionville 185, Oxford 234 >> Kaitlyn Ferrer led the way with a 42, while Mira Patel added a 42 as the Longhorns (7-0, 9-2) triumphed in the Ches-Mont American match. Elizabeth Dewees led the Hornets with a 53.
At Wyncote CC — 9 holes, Par 36
Unionville — Ferrer 42, M. Patel 42, S. Patel 47, Wilson 50.
Oxford — Dewees 53, Beadle 57, Flynn 61, Reilly 63.

Girls Soccer
Oxford 3, Coatesville 0 >> The Hornets (1-2, 2-5)  scored twice in the second half to capture the Ches-Mont contest. Alyssa Welhaf scored twice and Ella Jones had a single tally for Oxford. Marissa Walker scored for the Red Raiders. Kaelyn Phouthavongsa had 13 saves  in the shutout.
