Girls soccer
PW 3, Cheltenham 0: This was a tight one for 30 minutes until senior forward Angelina Balcer finally broke through for the Colonials. Ella Clark and freshman Marleigh Burton also added goals. Defenders Kate Yocom, Brianna Reynolds and Katie Lukens were stout defensively and helped goalie Caitlyn Dinh keep her first clean sheet of the season.
Abington 7, Upper Moreland 0: Carley Slavin scored two goals as the Ghosts erupted for five second-half goals on Wednesday. Maura Day also scored two goals for the Ghosts. Natalie Watson made 10 saves in net for UM.
Perk Valley 12, Norristown 1: PV took an 8-0 lead into halftime and coasted to the PAC win on Wednesday. Angela Jimenez scored the lone goal for Norristown.
PJP II 8, Pottstown 0: Junior Cameron Schuler collected a hat trick as the Golden Panthers picked up the PAC Frontier win on Wednesday. Also scoring for PJP were Sarah Boyce, Sophia Paul, Angelina Doppel, Miriana Michinok and Camryn Love.
Souderton 0, Bensalem 0: The Indians got back on track, but still settled for the draw on Wednesday. Sophomore Emma Hunter and senior Alexis Stefanowicz helped dominate in the back for the Indians.
“We never really felt overly threatened with the combo of their organization and senior goalkeeper Abby Allen’s sure hands at the back,” said Souderton head coach Ian Smith. “Just in front of them we got a great performance from senior captain Maggie Fisher and junior Hailey Rohr in the midfield. Both our backline and our midfield did a really great job taking care of the ball tonight and maintaining possession, which was our goal going into the match.”
Boys soccer
Souderton 3, Bensalem 1: Giuseppe Sirchia scored a goal and picked up an assist as the Indians picked up the SOL crossover victory on Wednesday. Jake Luciani and Ty Quintois also scored for Souderton.
Hatboro-Horsham 3, New Hope-Solebury 1: Tony Kuhner, JR Fulginiti and Enrico Romano scored as the Hatters kept their winning ways going on Wednesdsay. Jake Freedman and Raphael Laiss chipped in with assists.
Wissahickon 6, Tennent 2: The Trojans only led 1-0 at the half, but dominated the second half en route to the SOL crossover win on Wednesday. Providing the offense was Justin Rosenero, Chris Rossetti, Michael Om, Charlie Stenlik and Jeevan Jouhal. Logan Schorn, Om, Charlie Fortescue, Jouhal and Rossetti all were credited with assists.
OJR 3, Methacton 2: The Warriors dropped a heartbreaker in PAC Liberty action on Wednesday. Braden Kavanagh had a goal and an assist to pace Methacton (4-3), while Cam Chilson also scored. Wyatt Semler made four saves in net for Methacton.
PJP II 11, Pottstown 0: Ben Bosio scored twice in the first half and the Golden Panthers were off and running in PAC Frontier action on Wednesday. Also scoring for PJP were Luis Martinez, Lucas Varughese, Ben Rubinich, Julian Russo, Ian Goetz, Alex Glenn, Jack Heffner, Richie Benicasa and Andrew Niwinski.
Boys golf
Upper Merion 223, Pottsgrove 264: Jack Rogers carded a 39 as the Vikings won the PAC showdown on Wednesday. Audrey Schuebel added a 44 for Upper Merion, while Carter Burg led Pottsgrove with a 47.
Girls golf
Phoenixville 175, Methacton 218: Kate Thomas carded a 46 for the Warriors, but it wasn’t enough at Skippack Golf Course on Wednesday. Kate Roberts led Phoenixville with a 38.
Hatboro-Horsham 190, Boyertown 201: Sammy Fuchs carded a 45 at Talamore CC as the Hatters picked up the win on Wednesday. Mina Cho also carded a 45 for the Hatters, while Sarah Howard chipped in with a 47.
Hatboro-Horsham 217, Methacton 219: Sammy Fuchs shot a 46 at Talamore as the Hatters recorded the win on Tuesday. Sarah Howard added a 50 for the Hatters, while Kate Thomas carded a 42 to pace the Warriors.
Field hockey
Archbishop Carroll 11, Archbishop Ryan 0: Carroll opened up its defense of last year’s PCL championship with a decisive win on Wednesday. Hat tricks by Laura Wineburg and Sienna Golden led the way for the Patriots. Courtland Schumacher added two more and goalie Arianna Hall finished off the shutout with two saves. Golden also chipped in with two assists.
Girls tennis
Wissahickon 7, CR North 0: The Trojans didn’t drop a set in rolling to another win on Wednesday. Saachi Mehta set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Girls volleyball
PJP II 3, Owen J. Roberts 0: The Golden Panthers won in three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-18 on Wednesday. Standing out for PJP were Hutton Cordrey (10 kills), Gabriella Cooper (11 service points), Grace Cooper (10 digs) and Madison Monahan (24 assists).
Perk Valley 3, Norristown 0: PV won in straight sets on Wednesday by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-10. Leading the Falcons was Olivia Wusinich with 9 aces, 11 assists, 3 digs and 1 kill.
Upper Merion 3, Phoenixville 0: Caitlyn Daywalt recorded her 1,000th assist as the Vikings swept the Phantoms 25-22, 25-16 and 25-17 Wednesday in PAC Frontier play. Daywalt finished with 26 for the match. The victory raises UM’s record to 6-1. Also standing out for Upper Merion were Sophia Schweikert (20 kills), Despina Kourtidis (7 kills), Julia Giammarco (11 digs), Amber Chang (10 aces) and Raven Albrecht (10 aces).
Girls water polo
Wissahickon 11, Springfield Twp. 4: Goalies Mia Bananis and Hazel Mullen split time and combined for 15 saves as the Trojans picked up the win on Tuesday. Goals were scored by Maura O’Donnell (3), Bernice Fu (2), Sarah Pickel, Faith Pigeon, Gabby Jones, Anna Forde, Rachel Le and Abby Cooley.
Boys cross country
Perk Valley 26, Methacton 30: Evan Lackman led the pack in 17:17 for the Warriors, but PV took 2-4 in picking up the win. Charlie Reith was fifth in 18:15 and Jackson Harris took 9th in 19:26 for Methacton (1-1).
Girls cross country
Perk Valley 15, Methacton 50: The Falcons ran 1-7 as they rolled to the win at Heebner Park. Catherine Koran topped Methacton with a time of 22:14, good enough for eighth place.
