Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery 2022 Boys Volleyball All-Area team

Dock Mennonite Academy and Pennridge highlighted a strong boys volleyball season in the Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media area this spring.

The Pioneers won the District 1/2/11-2A Regional championship before advancing to the PIAA-2A state semifinals. The Rams reached the District 1-3A championship and PIAA-3A state semifinals.

Tristan Blum and Sean Gillespie were both first team All-League and All-District 1 selections for Dock. Gillespie totaled a season-high 20 kills in the season-ending loss against eventual state champion Lower Dauphin while Blum had 16 kills with a .540 hitting percentage.

Tyler Johnson and Riley Kodidek played key roles for the Rams. The two seniors earned first team All-District 1 honors. Johnson, a middle hitter, finished the season with 212 kills, .450 hitting percentage and 80 blocks.

Upper Dublin’s David Levin helped the Cardinals finished tied atop the Suburban One League American Conference with Pennridge at 13-1. The senior, who earned first team All-District 1 as a junior, played a key role in Upper Dublin’s come-from-behind win over Council Rock North to clinch a spot in the state playoffs.

Elsewhere in the SOL American, Souderton junior Nate Brown stood out all season. In one of his biggest games of the season, the junior totaled 32 kills, six digs, four aces and two blocks in a five-set thrilling win over CR North.

In the Philadelphia Catholic League, La Salle’s Jake Barton earned Most Valuable Player and led the Explorers to a District 12 championship.
