Mercury Roundup (May 21): Hill girls lacrosse reaches PAISAA semis

Highlights: Led by a four-goal game from Annabella Schafer, the Blues took down Notre Dame in Saturday’s PAISAA quarterfinal. Hill will travel to Penn Charter on Tuesday for the semifinal round.

The game was a tight one throughout as the two teams finished halftime tied 4-4. Emma Lewis scored a pair of goals for Hill, and Maddi Orsi, Mandy McCarrick, Meg MacMurray and Kerry Elliot also got in on the scoring action.

Abby Hicks, MacMurray and Elliot also tallied assists. Sam Cifra was again strong in goal with 15 saves.


PAISAA Championships: Hill sophomore Nicholas Bressi was the silver medalist in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles to lead local competitors at the PAISAA Championships Saturday at Malvern Prep.

Bressi finished in 41.01, bested by only Germantown Friends’ Graham Greene (40.51). Bressi also took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.29).

Hill freshman Jake Voynar placed third in the long jump with a 22-3 1/2, four inches shy of event winner Namusende Makatiani of George School. Hill senior Noah Toole was fifth (22-1).

Perkiomen School senior Christian Weddington placed third in the 100 meters in 10.75. Hill School’s Quintin Craig took sixth in 11.25. Craig also went sixth in the 200 meters in 23.68, a place ahead of Perkiomen School senior Adrian Cosme (23.80).

Hill took third in the 4×400 relay in 3:36.65 and 4×800 relay in 9:13.19.

Perkiomen senior Brandon Charon took second in the javelin (147-8).

Hill senior Jed Korankye finished fourth in the triple jump with a 41-8 1/2. 

Perkiomen School’s Priest Ryan cleared 6-0 for sixth in the high jump. Bressi was seventh (5-10) and teammate Anthony Wise was ninth (5-6).

In girls competition, Hill senior Adele Harris captured fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.45.

Perkiomen’s Frida Reichwaldt (87-1)  and Hill junior Courtney Bodolus (86-10) went 3-4 in the javelin.
