Colin Hannigan had quite the day in the faceoff circle as fourth-seeded Springfield rolled over No. 13 Methacton, 13-2, in the second round of the District 1 Class 3A boys lacrosse tournament.

Hannigan was perfect, going 17-for-17, to help the Cougars dominate possession. That wasn’t his only contribution to the victory. He also added one goal and one assist.

Ty Gougler paced the attack with six goals and one assist. Aidan Kredyt (one assist) and Connor Aughe pitched in with two goals each. Sean Donaldson contributed one goal and one assist, while Jimmy Kennedy handed out three assists.

The Cougars will host Central League rival Conestoga in Saturday’s quarterfinals. The 12th-seeded Pioneers upset No. 5 Perkiomen Valley, 17-6. Springfield won the regular-season meeting with Conestoga, 6-4. The winner automatically qualifies for the PIAA tournament while the loser goes into the playback round. The top six teams from District 1 advance to the state tournament.
