Mercury Roundup (May 10): Boyertown baseball earns comeback win over Methacton


Boyertown 5, Methacton 4

Highlights: Scoring pairs of runs in the fourth and fifth innings, the Bears erased the Warriors’ early lead and overtook them in Tuesday’s PAC Liberty contest.

Max Kneidlinger and Luke Moser each plated two runs for Boyertown, which got Richard Black the pitching win with help from Nathan Fox’s two innings of no-hit relief. Tommy Kratz was Methacton’s hitting star, going 2-for-4 and driving in two runs.

Perkiomen Valley 15, Pottstown 0

Highlights: Luke Ott threw a masterful three-inning perfect game and Michael Poruban provided sufficient bat support in the Vikings’ romp over the Trojans.

Ott got seven of nine outs off strikeouts while Poruban drove in three runs with help from a home run and double. The Vikings earned the PAC’s final postseason spot with a win and Methacton’s loss.

Alliance Christian 4, Conestoga Christian 3

Highlights: Cole Boyles came up with a solid pitching performance to help Alliance edge Conestoga in action from the PIAA District 3’s CCAC Conference.

Boyles struck out six as part of his starting stint. Josh Fitzmier (double) and Noah Day (single) contributed hits to Alliance’s offense.


Upper Perkiomen 16, Dock Mennonite 5

Highlights: Makenzie Bettys reached a career milestone in the course of Tuesday’s non-league win by the Indians.

Bettys recorded her 200th save among the 11 she posted for UP. Offensively, MaryKate Sitko led the way with eight goals and seven draw controls.
