UPPER MORELAND >> Zane Domsohn embraced the moment.
“I’m a leader on this team and they expect me to make big shots,” Bishop Shanahan’s senior guard said after Wednesday night’s contest. “When it came to the fourth quarter, my shot was on and I just kept letting it flow.”
Domsohn made a trio of clutch threes in a wildly-contested fourth quarter, allowing the Eagles to rise to the top in a 43-41 decision over Upper Moreland in the District 1-5A Third-Place Game.
“That was great. Coming in, we knew if we won, we would get a home playoff game (for states), so that motivated us,” said Domsohn, who scored a game-high 18 points. “We came in here and played our hearts out and we got that home game.”

With six teams out of Class 5A heading to states, sixth-seeded Bishop Shanahan captured the third-place spot and the fourth-seeded Bears finished fourth.
The lead changed hands three times in the fourth on Wednesday night.
Domsohn got it started with a three, bringing the Eagles within 31-30, and then a three at the other end by Byron Hopkins (17 points) widened the gap to 34-30 Upper Moreland.
A drive by Will O’Loughlin and another three by Domsohn propelled the Eagles into the lead, 35-34, but then Bo Meakim hit his third 3-pointer of the game for the Bears at the midway point of the fourth, making it 37-35. Hopkins sank a pair of free throws to bolster the lead to four.

Back came Shanahan.
Fittingly, it was Domsohn, who nailed a three from the top of the arc, bringing the visitors within 39-38 as the final minutes wound down.
Said Domsohn: “I was 0-for-2 in the first half (from three-point range) and then I made it into the fourth quarter and started making them. It felt amazing when they went in.”
Another pair of free throws by Hopkins (17 points) gave the Bears a 41-38 edge with 2 minutes and 6 seconds to play.
But it was all Shanahan the rest of the way.
Two foul shots by O’Loughlin (11 points) and a baseline drive by Ben Rodner-Tims sent the Eagles ahead, 42-41, with 50 seconds to go.
Bishop Shanahan grabbed three defensive rebounds down the stretch and Anthony D’Addezio made one of two foul shots with 2.8 seconds left, nudging the Eagles up to a 43-41 edge.

Upper Moreland had one last chance, but the inbounds pass was broken up by O’Loughlin and the green-shirted Eagles rushed onto the court in celebration.
“We knew they were gonna try and get it down the court, and we just had to play defense and that’s what we strive on,” said Domsohn. “We needed a confidence booster going into states because we just lost (to Chester in the semis) so it’s a huge to get a win.”
The Bears led by four after the first quarter and again by four entering the fourth but Shanahan rallied back.
“It was tough. I thought we had it at the end but some things didn’t go our way,” said Meakim, who had nine points for Upper Moreland.
