Mercury Roundup (Jan. 13): Boyertown boys outlast Upper Merion, 46-45

Boys Basketball

Boyertown 46, Upper Merion 45: The Bears got the necessary stops down the stretch to hold off the Vikings in a PAC crossover contest Thursday.

Eddie Higgins (13) and Jake Kapp (12) combined for 25 points to lead the Boyertown offense. Kalil Lawson (13) and Zayd Etheridge (12) were top scorers for Upper Merion.

Perkiomen Valley 67, Upper Perkiomen 38: Balanced Perk Valley had 12 players score and went wire-to-wire for a PAC crossover win Thursday.
Vance Sadler had 13 points, and Julian Sadler 12, as PV bolted to a 46-24 lead prior to the fourth quarter. Kyle Clancy netted a game-high 16 points for UP.

Methacton 53, Phoenixville 33: The Warriors improved to 11-0 with a PAC divisional crossover win over Phoenixville Thursday.
Cam Chilson led the Warriors with 21 and Cole Hargrove added 17.

Norristown 77, Pottstown 67: With four players scoring in double figures Thursday, the Eagles prevailed over the Trojans in their PAC divisional crossover game.

D.J. Johnson’s game-high 21 points came about with help from a 9-for-10 night at the foul line. Gage Sibley headed Pottstown’s trio of double-figure performers with 15 points.

Spring-Ford 51, Pope John Paul II 47

Highlights: A big night from Jake Kressley helped the Rams hold off the Golden Panthers in PAC Crossover action Thursday.

Kressley scored a game-high 19 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, for the Rams, while Jacob Nguyen added 10. Jaden Workman scored 15 for PJP and Trey Rogers added 12 on four 3-point shots.

Methacton 61, Phoenixville 30: Nicole Timko continued her climb up the career scoring ladder Thursday while leading the Warriors to a seventh straight victory in their PAC divisional crossover game with the Phantoms.

Timko went over the 1,400-point mark, upping her total to 1,412. Mairi Smith pulled down 11 rebounds while Cassidy Kropp made six steals in complement to her 15-point effort for Methacton.

Owen J. Roberts 55, Pottsgrove 20: Avery White kicked in a game-high 19 points Thursday, leading the Wildcats to victory over the Falcons in a PAC divisional crossover matchup.

Aaliyah Freeman led Pottsgrove with a 15-point effort, nine of which came off shots from 3-point range.

Perkiomen Valley 58, Upper Perkiomen 37: Jennifer Beattie was leading scorer with 14 points as the Vikings rolled over the Indians in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Freshman Quinn Boettinger scored 12 points and freshman Julia Smith scored 10 points for PV (8-1). Upper Perkiomen’s Grace Galbavy was game high scorer with 17 points.

Boyertown 61, Upper Merion 24: Cori Bieber claimed game scoring honors while leading the Bears past the Vikings in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Bieber finished with 12 points, ahead of teammate Carlie Schweizer’s 10.

Owen J. Roberts 95, Perkiomen Valley 82: Will Cano was a two-race winner for the Wildcats in Thursday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Cano scored his firsts in the 50 free and 100 fly in addition to swimming a leg of Owen J’s winning 200 free relay. Jacob Replogle had individual firsts in the 200 free and 100 back for PV, and he also swam the lead legs on the Vikes’ first-place 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Owen J. Roberts 103, Perkiomen Valley 68: Eliana Crew won two individual events to key the Wildcats’ showing in their PAC meet with the Vikings.

Crew headed the 100 fly and 100 back in addition to swimming a leg of Roberts’ winning 200 medley relay. PV got individual wins from Gabby Filzen (diving), Ella Dittmar (500 free) and Alyson DePalma (100 breast).
