The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media Local Roundup (Jan. 11): Cerisier, Upper Dublin too much for William Tennent

Boys Basketball

Upper Dublin 71, William Tennent 60 >> The Cards (8-2) picked up the SOL crossover win behind junior DJ Cerisier’s second-half effort. Cerisier scored 17 of his team-high 21 points in the final 16 minutes for Upper Dublin.

The Cards though were balanced with four players in double digits. Juniors Colin O’Sullivan and Seaton Kukla each scored 12, while Griffin Pensabene added 11.

Kirby Mooney paced Tennent with 23 points, while Connor Fithian and George Marion each added 11.

The Cardinals are back on the court at home against Upper Moreland on Friday.

Springfield-Montco 50, Quakertown 37 >> The Spartans picked up their second consecutive win on Tuesday night. Dylan McKenzie paced Springfield (5-4) with 18 points and 4 steals, while Brett Smith added 12 points.

Ben Cooney chipped in with 9 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds for Springfield.

Norristown 74, Owen J. Roberts 39 >> The Eagles used a balanced attack to pick up the win on Tuesday night. Four players scored in double figures led by 15 points from DJ Johnson.

John Dinolfi chipped in with 14 for the Eagles.

Souderton 55, Truman 41 >> Jay Bonnet scored 17 points as the Indians (9-3) picked up the SOL crossover win on Tuesday night.

Aleks Smith chipped in with 11 points, while Chris Towsen added 8 points and 10 assists for Souderton.

Jenkintown 61, TCA 27 >> The Drakes used a 19-1 run third-quarter run to put the game away and pick up the BAL victory on Tuesday night. Jake Hilton led the way with 21 points, including three treys in three quarters of work.

Pennsbury 57, Pennridge 36 >> Jude D’Agostino scored 10 points but the Rams (2-9) fell short in a SOL Crossover game on Tuesday night.

Girls Basketball

Souderton 48, Truman 14 >> The Indians (9-2) outscored Truman in every quarter and rolled to the SOL crossover win on Tuesday night. Casey Harter led the way for Souderton, outscoring Truman by herself with 20 points. Teya McConnaha chipped in with 6 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 57, New Hope-Solebury 19 >> Abby Sharpe scored a career-high 21 points, including three treys as the Colonials won big in a SOL crossover on Tuesday night. Erin Daley scored all 12 of her points in the first 3 quarters to go with her 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Angelina Balcer scored eight quick points off the bench at the end of the first into the second quarter to stretch the lead for PW.

Archbishop Carroll 63, West Catholic 13 >> Carroll used a 16-0 first-quarter explosion to overwhelm West Catholic on Tuesday night in PCL play.

Taylor Wilson led the way with 24 points, Maggie Grant had 11 and Grace O’Neill chipped in with 10. Brooke Wilson dominated on the glass with 12 rebounds. She added 5 assists, 2 steals and 7 points.

Owen J. Roberts 55, Norristown 22 >> The Eagles were outscored in every quarter and dropped the PAC contest on Tuesday night. Azjiona Golston paced Norristown with 14 points.

Pope John Paul II 65, Pottstown 24 >> Tess Crossan had game scoring honors for the Golden Panthers with 21 points in their PAC Frontier Division win. Amelia Kennedy kicked in with another 16 for PJP II.

Phoenixville 47, Upper Merion 25 >> The Phantoms went on a 20-6 run to start the third quarter and coasted to the win on Tuesday night. Riley Anderson paced Upper Merion with 10 points.

Pennsbury 57, Pennridge 35 >> The Rams (5-6) fell behind 18-7 after one quarter and never recovered on Tuesday night. Katie Yoder paced Pennridge with 13 points.

Abington 64, Cheltenham 28 >> The Ghosts (8-1) picked up the SOL crossover win on Tuesday night behind 16 points from Dani Brusha.

Lansdale Catholic 75, Bonner & Prendergast 51 >> Gabby Casey was at it again, firing in 30 points, while Olivia Boccella added 17 for the Crusaders (6-2, 1-0) on Tuesday night. Sanyah Littlejohn chipped in with 13 for LC, which is at West Catholic on Thursday night.

Girls Swimming

Souderton 96, Central Bucks South 82 >> Abby and Jessica Burns both led the way as the Indians won their SOL Colonial opener on Tuesday night. Abby Burns won the 200 IM (2:19.87) and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:53.49). Jessica Burns was also a part of the 200 medley relay, also winning the 200 free (2:01.42).

Methacton 127, Perkiomen Valley 57 >> Truly Sommer and Madison Wimmer both won two individual events as the Warriors won big on Tuesday. Sommer took first in the 200 free (2:04.92) and 500 free (5:30), while Wimmer won the 200 IM (2:16.84) and 100 free (56.05). Wimmer also was a part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:00) and 200 free relay (1:52.34), while Sommer was a part of the winning 400 free relay (4:07.37) and 200 free relay.

Hatboro-Horsham 104, Wissahickon 67 >> The Hatters won all but the final event in picking up the victory on Tuesday. It was the Trojans’ first meet of the year and there were some highlights. Sarah Pickle posted personal bests in the 100 and 200 free, Ava Walters earned District 1 consideration in the 500 free, Bernice Fu had big drops in the 100 fly and 100 breast, Gabby Jones posted personal bests in the 200 IM and 500 free and Rachel Le broke the 1-minute barrier for the first time in the 100 free.

Boys Swimming

Methacton 96, Perkiomen Valley 84 >> Christian Lebold and Tommy Gibbs led the way as the Warriors pulled out the PAC win on Tuesday. Lebold was a winner in the 200 free (1:56.36) and 500 free (5:16.65), while Gibbs was first in the 200 IM (2:04.32) and 100 fly (52.34). The duo also hooked up to win the 400 free relay in 3:26.

Souderton 103, Central Bucks South 68 >> Robbie Ferlick won the 200 IM (2:10.89), 500 free (5:01.65) and was a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:44.14) as the Indians improved to 4-2-1 on the season, winning their SOL Colonial opener. Drew Stephens also won the 50 free (23.10) and was a part of the 200 medley relay team alongwith Ferlick, Logan Freed and Matvey Anbryushin.
