Mercury Swimming Roundup (Dec. 14): Spring-Ford sweeps Pottsgrove; Phoenixville, Upper Perkiomen split

Spring-Ford 95, Pottsgrove 41

HIGHLIGHTS: Patrick Baganski figured in on three winning results for the Rams in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Falcons.

Baganski won the 200 IM (2:16.99) and 100 free (51.73) in addition to swimming a leg of Spring-Ford’s winning 200 free relay (1;38.59). Nathan Jorgensen had Pottsgrove’s lone individual first in the 100 breast (1;14.90).

Upper Perkiomen 93, Phoenixville 67

HIGHLIGHTS: Eric Harter won four events as the Indians picked up a PAC victory over the Phantoms on Tuesday. Harter won the 50 free and 400 free, also leading off the winning 200 medley relay and anchoring the winning 400 free relay. Jack Mooney and Nolan McCloskey each factored in on three UP victories, winning the 100 back and 100 free, respectively, while teaming with Harter and Josh McKelvy in the 200 medley and 400 free relay wins.

Schuylkill Valley 90, Daniel Boone 73

HIGHLIGHTS: Even with Matthew and Tyler Ferenz each winning pairs of individual races, the Blazers fell short of the Panthers in Tuesday’s Berks meet. Matthew won the 200 free (1:55.13) and 500 free (5:12.37), with Tyler doing the same in the 100 fly (59.10) and 100 back (1:01.27). Boone had a 6-2 advantage in individual race victories.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Spring-ford 92, Pottsgrove 60

HIGHLIGHTS: Kala Griffith was a two-event winner for the Rams, heading their win over the Falcons Tuesday. Griffith took the 50 free (26.48) and 100 fly (1:06.69) for Spring-Ford. Bayley Richard scored a pair of firsts for Pottsgrove in the 200 free (2:10.52) and 100 back (1:04.20).

Phoenixville 96, Upper Perkiomen 58

HIGHLIGHTS: Phantoms’ Kenzie Padilla and Maddy Deeney both factored in on four top times in Tuesday’s PAC win over the Indians. Padilla won the 200 IM and 400 free, while Deeney won the 100 fly and finished first in the 100 breast. They both helped the Phantoms 200 medley and 200 free relays to victories as well.

Schuylkill Valley 129, Daniel Boone 49

HIGHLIGHTS: Shailla Mejia was the bright spot for the Blazers in Tuesday’s Berks League meet with the Panthers. Mejia won the 100 back, clocking a 1;00.40. It was the lone first for Boone.
