Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2021 Golf All-Area Team
La Salle College High School and Central Bucks West each had tremendous seasons on the golf course this past fall, led by multiple standouts who earned spots on this year’s Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media All-Area Team.
The Explorers, who finished third at the PIAA-3A Team Championships, received major contributions all year from Scott Hughes as well as Darren Nolan.
Also selected to the First Team were Kevin Lydon and Alex Feraco, who helped power the Bucks to a fourth-place finish at the team championships.
Lydon would also finish tied for 28th at the individual championships for West.
La Salle was also well represented at the PIAA Individual Championships, with Nolan battling to a tie for 28th.
Athlete of the Year Christian Matt was at his best at Heritage Hills Golf Resort that afternoon, firing a 75 to finish tied for 18th.
Connor Toussaint of North Penn also earned First-Team honors: Toussaint tied for 19th at the Suburban One League Championships.
La Salle had further selections on the Second Team, with Ethan Martin and Eric Fryer. Jenkintown, well-represented at 2A States, was led by Will Gouveia and Jeff Staples.
Central Bucks West’s John Lee was a key contributor for the Bucks and Charlie Kerprich had a tremendous season for Upper Dublin.
Carolina Gola had quite a year for the Mount Saint Joe’s girls, culminating at PIAA’s, where she tied for sixth.
North Penn’s Hayley Ekert, Plymouth-Whitemarsh’s Rhianna Gooneratne, and Springfield Montco’s Mollie Young all had outstanding years for their respective squads.
Lola Barnett and Chaela Barnett proved to be quite a tandem for the Archbishop Wood girls, finishing tied for 14th at the PIAA Championships.
