Harriton athletes announce college commitments

Five Harriton High School student-athletes recently announced their college commitments as to where they will continue their academic and athletic careers – Annie Aspesi, Grace Dwyer, Julia Karten, Rachel Kolton and Josh Smith.

Aspesi will play basketball for Tufts University. Aspesi is a four-year member of the Rams’ basketball, lacrosse and soccer teams, and earned first team All-Central League and All-Main Line basketball honors in her sophomore and junior years.

Dwyer will play ice hockey and lacrosse for Cornell University. Dwyer is a two-time bronze medal winner at USA Hockey Nationals and earned a spot on the U18 National Team. She has garnered Second Team All-Main Line, All-Central League Honorable Mention and All-Philly Third Team honors for lacrosse and was a member of the most recent state championship winning team. Dwyer has also earned an All-Central League Honor Mention nod for field hockey.

Karten will be rowing for University of Southern California. Karten was elected Whitemarsh Boat Club’s team captain and earned Harriton’s Most Outstanding Novice Award. She placed ninth at the 2021 USRowing Youth National Regatta, third at the 2021 USRowing Summer National Regatta and was named a USRowing Honor Roll Recipient for the 2021-2022 season.

Kolton will play lacrosse for American University. She has earned an All-Central League Honorable Mention for lacrosse.

Smith will play lacrosse for Dickinson College. Smith is a three-year captain of the varsity lacrosse team and was named Harriton’s 2021 Offensive MVP. During the 2021 season, he was named to the All-Central League Honorable Mention team.
