Mercury Roundup (Oct. 30): Spring-Ford’s season ends in state semis

Conestoga 3, Spring-Ford 1

Highlights: The defending PIAA champions had their season end in the semifinals on Saturday, finishing off a season that included a PAC team title, three individuals qualifying for districts, two doubles pairs making districts and second straight trip to Hershey.

Singles: Mia Matriccino (SF) def. Leena Kwak, 6-0, 6-1; Ananya Krishnan (C) def. Isabel Mejia, 6-0, 6-1; Kate Emmanuel (C) def. Cady Krause, 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles: Felicia Manful/Bella Chen (C) def. Evelyn Mejia/Alexis Luo, 6-4, 6-3; Melissa Fan/Jennifer He (C) def. Lana Hang/Chloe Moore, 6-2, 7-5.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Council Rock North 3, Boyertown 1

HIGHLIGHTS: A narrow second-set victory was the bright spot for the Bears in their District 1-4A quarterfinal with the Indians. Set scores were 25-17, 24-26, 25-22 and 25-23.

Statistical leaders for eighth-seeded Boyertown were Grace Rinehimer (38 assists, 16 digs, 2 aces). Adrianna Derstine (26 kills, 19 digs, 3 aces), Allie Pioli (12 digs, 7 kills), Kyra Neiswender (13 digs, 2 aces) and Emma Smith (9 digs). The Bears drop into playbacks to be one of five teams from the district advancing to the PIAA 4A playoffs.
