Reporter/Times Herald Roundup (Sept. 22): Souderton boys soccer shuts out CB West

BOYS SOCCER

Souderton 2, Central Bucks West 0 >> Ben Lare and Joe Sirchia scored in the second half while goalies Chris McKenna and Roman Sigafoos combined on a shutout as Souderton earn an SOL Colonial win.

McKenna denied a penalty kick in making seven saves in the first half for the Indians (2-1-2, 1-1-2 division). Sigafoos played second half and had six saves.

Lare put Souderton up 1-0 in the 65th minute off assists from Thomas Smith and Nolan Hughes. Hughes also had an assist on Sirchia’s strike in the 75th.

North Penn 1, Central Bucks East 0 >> Jim Perrin found the back of the net for SOL Colonial matchup’s lone goal as North Penn improved to 3-2-0- (2-2-0 division).

GIRLS SOCCER

Upper Moreland 1, New Hope-Solebury 1 >> Malloy Roedig gave Upper Moreland a 1-0 lead on strike from about 25 yards out in the 11th minute but New Hope-Solebury pulled even on Mia Usatin’s goal in the 50th minute and the SOL Freedom contest ended in a draw.

Upper Moreland is now 4-0-1(4-0-1 division) while New Hope moved to 1-4-1 (1-3-1).

Wissahickon 4, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2 >> Wissahickon built a 3-0 lead before Plymouth Whitemarsh scored twice late but Emma Baker’s goal put the Trojans up two as they went on to earn an SOL Liberty win.

Kylie Friedman, Margaret Wilde and Margo Kasenchar each had a goal for Wissahickon (2-2-1, 2-1-1). PW dropped to 0-5-0 (0-5-0).

Abington 5, Quakertown 0 >> Lily Gray had three assists as Abington shut out Quakertown for its third consecutive win.

Gray assisted as Piper McGinley scored the game’s first goal then had the helper on the Galloping Ghosts’ four and fifth tallies by Taylor Reilley and Wren Castor, respectively.

Marissa Hellyer gave Abington (4-2-0, 4-1-0 SOL Liberty) a 2-0 lead while Carley Slavin scored the Ghosts’ third off an Ashley Reilly assist.

Central Bucks East 2, North Penn 1 >> Audrey MacNair gave North Penn a 1-0 lead in the first half off an Reyna Doherty assist but Central Bucks East scored twice after halftime to win the SOL Colonial contest.

FIELD HOCKEY

Central Bucks East 3, North Penn 2 (OT) >> Caroline Suko scored at 8:45 in overtime and Central Bucks East goalie Grace Gidwani made 30 saves as the Patriots erased a 2-0 deficit to earn an SOL Colonial win.

Maddie Waldspurger assisted on both North Penn goals – Riley O’Donnell tallying the opener at 11:41 in the first quarter with Caleigh Sperling finding the back of the cage at 9:05 in the second quarter.

East made it 2-1 at 8:01 in the second quarter while Sophia Parker tied things at 1:37 in the third.

Goalie Kiera Holt had eight saves for the Knights (3-3-0, 2-3-0 division), which lost its third in a row. East (3-2-0, 3-2-0) won its second straight.

Springfield-Montco 4, Cheltenham 0 >> Annie Coll collected two assists and also scored Springfield’s fourth to cap a three-goal second quarter in a SOL Freedom victory.

Norah Conlin, Hailey Lesniak and Anna Joblokov each had a goal for the Spartans (4-1-0, 4-1-0), who won their fourth straight. Abby Congdon picked up an assist with goalie Erin Roy making our saves.

Archbishop Carroll 2, Cardinal O’Hara 1 >> Archbishop Carroll’s Sienna Golden scored the tying goal then assisted on Shannon Wood’s winning tally as the Patriots rallied to edge Cardinal O’Hara for a PCL win.

Courtney Schumache assisted on Golden’s goal while goalie Reilly McMeniman had 10 saves for Carroll (5-3, 2-0 league). Mia Scarduzio scored for O’Hara assisted by Kerryn Eife.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Methacton 3, Perkiomen Valley 2 >> Mandy Baldwin had 13 kills and three aces while Mel Eglinton collected 10 kills and four aces as Methacton won a back-and-forth, five-set PAC Liberty match 25-16, 20-25, 26-24, 19-25, 15-12

Meg Haftl handed out 29 assists for the Warriors (2-4, 1-2) with Kayla Ginther making 17 digs.

For Perk Valley, Naomi Clauhs had 13 kills, 21 assists, 15 digs and three blocks while Natalie Min added 13 digs, nine kills, two aces and a block. Lilah Maus had 11 kills, a block, and an ace, Cami Leyes had 13 digs and three aces with Pia Nagac making 10 digs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Lower Moreland 6, Wissahickon 1 >> It was a Kideckel singles sweep for Lower Moreland in its SOL nonconference win. Hannah Kideckel to first singles 6-0, 6-1, Rebecca Kideckel took second singles 6-4, 6-1 and Sarah Kideckel claimed third singles 7-6 (8), 6-3.

Wissahickon picked up its lone win from the first doubles pair of Lauren Kooman and Claira Baldasano collecting a 6-3, 7-6 victory.
