Mercury Roundup (Sept. 14): Schuler’s hat trick helps PJP girls soccer to first win

Pope John Paul II 5, Upper Merion 1

Highlights: Cameron Schuler scored twice as the Golden Panthers broke into the win column Tuesday with a victory over the Vikings in PAC Frontier Division play.

The remainder of PJP’s scoring was shared in equal measure by Lauryn Rezza, Sarah Boyce and Amaya Ransom.

Upper Perkiomen 4, Phoenixville 1

Highlights: Sara Fisher netted a hat trick to key the Indians in Tuesday’s PAC Frontier Division win over the Phantoms.

Fisher’s output featured the first two of three second-half tallies by UP. Sara Edwards also figured in the offense with one goal and two assists.

Highlights: Brianna Thorum scored a pair of goals to lead the Falcons past the Trojans in Tuesday’s PAC Frontier Division pairing.

Thorum got both her goals in the second half, with Avery Makoid (one assist) adding the capper.

Highlights: The Rams got pairs of goals from three players as they rolled over the Eagles in Tuesday’s PAC Liberty Division game.

Regan Cleary, Claire Lanzisera and Summer Smith were Spring-Ford’s scoring stars. Defensively, its goalkeeping trio turned in the clean sheet without having to make any saves.

Highlights: The Vikings overcame the Wildcats’ early lead with a big second half in Tuesday’s PAC Liberty Division contest.

Javier Schorle scored twice to lead the PV charge. Owen J Roberts scored first as Isaac Stephenson finished an Ethan Williams cross. 

PV overcame the deficit led by two goals from Javier Schorle, a goal and an assist from both Owen Slack and Adam Natoli, and two assists from Owen Love.

Highlights: Stephan Rist accounted for the Golden Panthers’ scoring in Tuesday’s PAC Frontier Division game with the Vikings.

Rist converted a penalty kick at the 25-minute mark of the second half. Dylan Russ made six saves in goal for PJP.

For UM, Sophia Schweikert had 21 kills and 17 digs, while Vanessa Hutchinson led the team with 27 digs. Julia Giammarco had a career-high 13 kills and Caitlyn Daywalt dished out 31 assists. Sydney Bright had 11 service points and Raven Albrecht served 5 aces. gs to 3-1.

Highlights: The Vikings earned a three-set (25-14, 25-21, 25-18) win over the Falcons in a PAC crossover contest Tuesday.
