Mercury Roundup (May 4): Perk Valley softball hangs on against Upper Perk


Perkiomen Valley 3, Upper Perkiomen 2 >> Bella Reedy came in to slam the door in the bottom of the seventh of the Vikings PAC crossover win Tuesday.

Ava Macalis (6 IP, 2 ER) tossed six scoreless before running into trouble in the seventh when Reedy save the day.

Kinsey Moses and Sam Sciarra doubled for PV, Taylor Croak and Lynnsi Joyce (2-for-2) did the same for UP.

Croak allowed one earned in seven innings for the Indians.


Spring-Ford 18, Boyertown 0 >> Tuesday at Boyertown, Jules Scogna threw shutout ball while Madison Peck swung the Rams’ hottest bat in their PAC Liberty Division romp over the Bears.

Scogna recorded eight strikeouts in a game halted after five innings by the 15-run rule. Peck drove in four of Spring-Ford’s runs off 2-for-4 hitting highlighted by a home run and double.


Daniel Boone 15, Reading High 0 >> Tuesday at Reading, Hannah Johns went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Blazers over the Red Knights in Berks League play.

Grace Miller went 3-for-3 with a double and Hailey Kaba went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored for Daniel Boone (7-1, 10-2).


Perkiomen Valley 5, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Tuesday at Royersford, Andrew McGowan was a two-way star for the Vikings as they blanked the Indians in a PAC divisional crossover game.

McGowan pitched a three-hit shutout, scattering four walks and striking out three. He backed his own mound efforts at the plate, driving in two runs with help from a double.

Schneider/Ethan O’Brien (Me) def. Jacob Collier/Yosh Rohera 6-3, 6-1; Jacob Kolevas/Jupjowt Singh (SF) def. Avery Barber/Gavin Jacobs 2-0, retired.

Boys Volleyball

Exeter 3, Daniel Boone 1 >> Tuesday at Mount Penn, the Eagles held off the Blazers in their Berks League match. Set scores were 25-19, 25-13, 22-25 and 26-24.

For Daniel Boone (3-6, 9-7), Logan Emery had eight kills and two digs, Jack Hummel had five kills and 11 digs and Ian Wright had 25 assists, two blocks and five digs.
