Mercury Baseball Roundup (April 30): Norristown earns first win over Pottstown

Norristown 5, Pottstown 3 >> The combined pitching efforts of Dylan Duke and James Keyes led the Eagles to their first win of the season Friday.

Duke (two earned runs) struck out 10 batters and allowed four hits in four innings of work to earn the win. Keyes (one earned run) struck out six in the next three innings.

Duke hit a pair of doubles and Keyes had one, while Logan Sigg tallied a pair of hits for Norristown.

Dylan Murphy allowed three earned runs in 5.2 innings for Pottstown. Mason Miller (double) and Caleb Quiles both had two-hit days. Murphy added a double at the dish.

Boyertown 15, Pottsgrove 1 >> Trey Yesavage, Cole Hertzler and Jon Myers all went yard in the Bears’ five-inning win over the Falcons on Friday in PAC crossover action.

Hertzler allowed a run in three hitless innings to pick up the win before Evan Hetrick tossed two scoreless innings of relief.

Luke Moser and Myers had two-hit days for Boyertown.


Owen J. Roberts 12, Pope John Paul II 0 >> A trio of pitchers combined to three-hit the Golden Panthers Friday, and two Wildcats provided multiple-RBI outings toward their team’s PAC divisional crossover win.

Jared Berish, Sam Morris and Zach Brockner shared the mound duties for Owen J., walking just three and collecting 10 strikeouts between them. At the plate, Morris drove in three runs on 2-for-3 hitting while Ethan Sabatino and Dean Mihos (both 2-for-3) had two more in the five-inning contest.


Spring-Ford 21, Upper Merion 0 >> The Rams’ red-hot offense put up another dominant performance on Friday.

Jarret Gordon went 4-for-4 with two doubles; Jake Books went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles; and Cole Casamento went 4-for-4 with a double. Jackson Malouf pitched three shutout innings for the win.
