Haverford School’s late rally falls short against La Salle

A furious Haverford School rally wasn’t enough, the Fords losing in walk-off fashion in a thrilling nonleague game with La Salle, 8-7.

Haverford School trailed 6-1 but rallied to take a 7-6 lead. The Explorers, though, answered with single runs in the sixth and seventh to prevail.

The big blow in the Fords’ comeback was struck by Colby McNeely, his bases-clearing double driving in three during a four-run fifth. Jake Stacey doubled among two hits. Mike Tallarida (triple, RBI) had two hits and scored two runs.

Strath Haven 6, Haverford 3 >> Brett Mutz pitched into the sixth inning, striking out seven and scattering three hits for the Panthers Friday.

Haven led 6-0 before withstanding a three-run bottom of the sixth from the Fords. Koll Peichel tripled, Mike Valente scored twice and Jack Ryder drove in two runs before finishing the game on the mound.

Hunter Kraiza and Kyle Heston drove in runs for Haverford.

Christian Academy 14, Church Farm 3 >> Evan Sareyka drove in four runs, scored twice and nearly went the distance on the mound in a Crusaders win Friday.
