Reporter/Times Herald Baseball Roundup: Junker leads Wissahickon to 4th straight win

Wissahickon 4, Upper Dublin 1 >> Ben Junker hit an RBI double during Wissahickon’s three-run bottom of the first, finished 2-for-3 at the plate and also pitched six innings as the Trojans earned their fourth win in a row Wednesday.

Jackson Tappen walked twice and scored two runs for Wissahickon (4-3, 3-1 SOL Liberty) while Junker picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run – earned – on four hits, walked two and struck out seven.

Nate Vincent got the save, allowing a hit and striking out two in pitching the seventh.

Karan Acharya was 2-for-2 with a walk and a double for Upper Dublin (0-6, 0-4 SOL Liberty) while Nick Lombardo finished 2-for-4.

After the Trojans loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first, Seth Floyd plated the game’s first run with an RBI sacrifice fly. Junker’s RBI double made it 2-0 while a third run came in when Michael Faith reached on an error.

Upper Dublin pulled within 3-1 in the top of the fifth on a Kyle Rizzo RBI sac fly but Tappen scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to put Wissahickon back up three.

Central Bucks West 4, Central Bucks East 1 >> Cole Fehrman struck out 11 in a two-hit, complete-game victory as Central Bucks West scored the first four runs and handed Central Bucks East its first loss.

Andrew Kohl gave the Bucks a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the first while West (2-4, 2-2 SOL Colonial) plated its final three runs in the third.

Jack Nugent hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth for CB East (4-1, 2-1 SOL Colonial).

Kohl scored twice while James Carbone and Damien Thomas each had an RBI as the Bucks won their second straight.

Central Bucks South 7, North Penn 2 >> Colin Mitchell hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to put Central Bucks South up 6-1 as the Titans went on to picked up their second straight win in the SOL Colonial contest.

Carter Hinds was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Owen Petrich had a two-RBI single in the first for CB South (3-1, 2-1 division), which plated a pair of runs in the first, second and fourth frames.

Titans starting pitcher Robby Porco earned the win, giving up one run – unearned – on three hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out five.

Steve Corrado collected an RBI while Jeff Sabater and Sam Cohen scored for the Knights (4-2, 2-2), who tallied a run each in the third and seventh.

Quakertown 10, Hatboro-Horsham 7 >> Back-to-back two-RBI doubles by Brandon Pierce and Justin Butler capped Quakertown’s seven-run bottom of the second and the Panthers held off Hatboro-Horsham to claim a SOL Liberty victory.

Freddie Steinmetz was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI single in the third to put Quakertown up 8-1.

The Hatters scored four in the fourth then made it 8-7 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth but the Panthers responded with two in the bottom of the inning on Butler bases-loaded hit by a pitch and a Trevor Hurst RBI sacrifice fly.

Butler collected three RBIs while Anthony Rostick and Thomas Kozlusky both had two runs scored for Quakertown (2-4, 2-2).

Trey Porter went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored for Hatboro-Horsham (2-5, 1-3). Cole Fisher finished with a double and two RBIs.
