Reporter/Times Herald Lacrosse Roundup: Dock Mennonite girls earn program’s first victory

GIRLS LACROSSE

Dock Mennonite 11, Delco Christian 5 >> Dock Mennonite earned the first in program history Tuesday as junior captain scored five goals and the Pioneers shut out Delco Christian in the second half to win the Bicentennial Athletic League contest.

“Very exciting game for us today as it was our first win in Dock lacrosse history, the girls have been working extremely hard and that effort paid off today,” Dock coach Michelle Waldspurger said. “We worked well together as a team and communicated on the field”

Kenzie Derstine added three goals for the Pioneers (1-2, 1-0 BAL), who led 7-5 at halftime. Tess Bergey scored twice and Abby Mellinger also had a goal.

Lansdale Catholic 14, St. Hubert 4 >> Grace Picozzi collected six goals and and an assist, Emily Simpson scored four times and Lansdale Catholic rolled to a Philadelphia Catholic League victory.

Keira Trainer had a goal and two assists, Sam Beyerle dished out a pair of assists while Kate Fredrickson finished with a goal and an assist for the Crusaders. LC goalkeeper Caroline Kerr made 13 saves.

Archbishop Carroll 18, Bonner & Prendergast 0 >> Kiley Mottice recorded 10 assists and was one of 18 Archbishop Carroll players to score a goal as the Patriots cruised in the PCL contest.

Makayla Henry had a game-high five draw controls for Carroll (4-1, 4-0 league) while goalie Bridge Robinson made one save in earning her second shutout. The Patriots led 17-0 at halftime.

BOYS LACROSSE

Central Bucks West 11, Pennridge 10 (OT) >> Pennridge got two goals each from Jack Lenox, Chris Fanelli and Ryan Carickhoff but Central Bucks West found the back of the net in overtime to send the Rams to their third straight defeat.

Lenox also handed out an assist while goalie Kieran Banks made eight saves for Pennridge (2-4, 1-2 SOL National). Jake Stranix, Frankie Fanelli, Luke Lenox and Drew Ferguson all scored a goal for the Rams.

The Bucks improved to 3-3 (2-1 SOL National), having won three of four since an 0-2 start.

Wissahickon 18, Abington 0 >> Kyle Lehman registered seven goals and an assist a Wissahickon shut out Abington for a SOL American Conference win.

Dean Wolfe dished out five assists and scored twice for the Trojans (3-2, 1-0 conference) while EJ Schreiner collected his first career hat trick. Jack Intrieri added two goals and two assists.

Matt Fritz won 16-of-17 faceoffs along with posting a goal and an assist while Nick Donofrio also had a goal and an assist. Sam Baker and Jason Michaels each chipped in a goal.

Goalie Scott Pfeiffer made five save for Wissahickon, which got a strong defensive performance led by Max Gendleman, Michael Licata, Quinn Fonash, Ethan Glass, Joey Connolly and Darren Schank.

Council Rock North 12, North Penn 6 >> Dakari Luby had two goals and two assists for North Penn, which had its four-game win streak snapped as visiting Council Rock North handed the Knights their first SOL National defeat.

Ryann McCann scored twice for North Penn (4-2, 2-1 conference). Lars Homan had a goal and an assist, Declan Lanier added a goal and goalie Matt Kuhn made eight saves.

CR North (4-1, 2-1) won its second straight.

Central Bucks East 9, Souderton 1 >> Souderton’s Kobi Bui scored in the second quarter as the Indians trailed 3-1 at halftime but Central Bucks East pulled away in the second half.

The win was the second straight for the Patriots (2-2, 2-0 SOL National). Souderton fell to 4-3 (1-3 SOL National).
