Mercury Baseball Roundup (April 14): Barker’s walkoff brings Upper Perk 1-0 win over Phoenixville

Upper Perkiomen 1, Phoenixville 0 >> Wes Barker’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh walked off the Indians to a PAC Frontier win over the Phantoms on Wednesday.

Barker had UP’s only two hits, the last driving in Ryan Peterson for the game-winning run after he came on to run for Evan Shade, who was hit by a pitch.

Malachi Duka and Nate Reinhart combined for a shutout for the Indians, with Duka giving up just a pair of hits and striking out 10 in six innings of work before Reinhart shut Phoenixville out in the top of the seventh.

Mike Memmo tossed a complete game for Phoenixville, striking out seven and allowing just one walk. He was perfect before Barker’s first single in the fifth.

Boyertown 8, Methacton 3 >> Trey Yesavage helped the Bears with his arm and his bat in Wednesday’s PAC Liberty win over the Warriors.

Yesavage struck out 10 batters in five innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs as picked up the win. Cole Galloway and Ethan Ferraro tossed an inning each of shutout relief.

Yesavage also aided the Bears at the plate with a homer. Brandon Shane had a triple and 3 RBI, and Cole Hertzler added a pair of hits for Boyertown, and Tanner McCafferty an Ethan Martin doubled.

Nolan McCloskey and Jake Maggio both had two-hit day for the Warriors. Tyler Weil-Kasper doubled.

Spring-Ford 15, Norristown 0 >> The Rams powered their way to a three-inning PAC Liberty win over the Eagles Wednesday.

Griffin Straface went 2-for 3 with a triple and Jake Corropolese had Spring-Ford’s other two-hit day. Aydan McNelly and Nick Cagliola both double, while J Books homered for the Rams. Jackson Malouf tossed two perfect innings to pick up the win.

Pope John Paul II 8, Upper Merion 5 >> Frank Dimaio was a two-way standout Wednesday for the Golden Panthers in a PAC Frontier win over the Vikings.

Dimaio went 2-for-2 at the dish and gave PJP four strong innings (three earned runs) on the mound to earn the win. Dom Gerasimonwicz and Brendan Kenning had two-hit days for PJP. Gavin Feulner doubled and drove in two runs.

Brad Zielinski and Oscar Brenes both went 3-for-3 for Upper Merion. Zielinski and Brandon Colon both doubled.

Perkiomen Valley 7, Owen J. Roberts 2 >> Jack Colyer twirled a gem for PV, striking out 11 and allowing one earned run on four hits during the Vikings’ PAC Liberty win over the Wildcats.

A McGowan finished off the effort for Colyer, striking out three OJR hitters in the seventh. Ethan Ferraro swung a big bat for the Vikings, going 3-for-4 with a pair of double and two RBI.

OJR starting pitcher Sam Morris tallied a pair of hits, including a double, and allowed one earned run in three innings. The Wildcats hurt themselves with nine walks and five errors in the game.

Exeter 1, Daniel Boone 0 >> Owen Wisner’s eighth-inning single broke up a no-hitter and lifted the Eagles over the Blazers in Berks League action Wednesday.

Boone’s Harrison Leister struck out eight without allowing a hit until the eighth, when Ben Trexler drew a walk, was sacrificed to second and scored on Wisner’s single. Trexler threw six shutout innings, striking out the side with the bases loaded in sixth. Devin Sheerin picked up the win with two scoreless innings.

Friends’ Central 9, Perkiomen School 3 >> A rough third inning doomed the Panthers in Wednesday’s loss, their fifth straight after opening the spring with a win.

Tony Holden, Ryan Stubblefield and CC Catania tallied Perk’s only hits with Catania hitting a triple for the Panthers’ lone extra-base knock.
