O’Connor, Romolini help Springfield trip up Radnor in Central hockey playoffs

Ryan O’Connor and Dominic Romolini each had a goal and an assist as No. 3 Springfield downed No. 6 Radnor, 5-1, in the Central League boys lacrosse quarterfinals Monday night.

The Cougars advance to Tuesday’s semifinals against the winner of the late game between Strath Haven and Ridley. Colin Hannigan, Ryan Kertis and Fran Doerr also scored for the Cougars.

Radnor struck first on the power play via Tucker Graham, but the lead didn’t last six minutes. Robert Hobbs made 31 saves in goal.

Also in the Central League playoffs:

Conestoga 4, Penncrest 0 >> Jack Tabata scored twice on the power play, and Andrew Pisano had a pair of primary assists as the Pioneers advanced to take on top-seeded Haverford Tuesday night.

Gannon Walker made 26 saves in goal for Penncrest.

Ridley 9, Strath Haven 4 >> John Zebley scored two goals and added two assists as the Green Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 lead within 10 minutes against the shorthanded Panthers to pull an upset.

Eric Davis and Justin Chiango scored twice each for No. 7 Ridley. Nick Giuliano made 32 saves for Ridley.

Christian Thack recorded a hat trick for the second-seeded Panthers. Nick Dignazio had a goal and an assist.
