DLN GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP (Feb 6-8): W.C. East’s Klieber hits 1,000 in tight loss to Unionville

Unionville 44, West Chester East 42 >> East’s Lauren Klieber scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter Saturday en route to a game-high 19 points, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Longhorns. Unionville’s Riley Angstadt hit the biggest shot of the game, drilling a baseline jumper with 2.2 seconds to go for the last two of her team-high 13 points, while Milana Amoss had 11 points for the Longhorns.

Coatesville 42, Avon Grove 21 >> Junior Danae Ellzy and freshman Kaitlyn Ward led a balanced scoring attack with nine and eight points, respectively, in the Ches-Mont win. Alex Miller led the Red Devils with nine points.

Bishop Shanahan 53, West Chester Henderson 50 >> Sam Blumenthal had 13 points and Caroline Sendi had 11 for Shanahan in the win. Whitney Evans led Henderson with 21 points, while Molly Manion had 18 and Ellie Shea had 10 rebounds.

Conestoga 41, Lower Merion 40 >> Sophomore Kate Galica led the Pioneers to an impressive Central League win with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Freshman Marisa Francione had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals.

West Chester Rustin 49, Bishop Shanahan 45 >> Laine McGurk led all scorers with 23 points on Monday, and the Golden Knights came back despite trailing after three quarters for the Ches-Mont win. Marisa Betchyk had 10 points for Rustin and Julie DiCampli added nine. Maddie Rudolph led Shanahan with 12 points.
