
Alexa Abbonizio swished the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give Springfield a 44-41 Central League victory over Haverford.
The Cougars (4-0, 1-0) trailed by seven points at the start of the fourth quarter.
Abbonizio netted eight of her game-high 14 points in the final eight minutes. Rachel Conran and Lexi Aaron each made three treys for nine points apiece.
Caroline Dotsey paced the Fords (1-2, 0-1) with 11 points.
Strath Haven 34, Garnet Valley 26 >> Danielle McNeely registered 13 points and Faith Raymond added seven for the visiting Panthers (2-0, 1-0), who held the Jaguars (1-3, 0-1) to eight points in the first half.
Ava Possenti paced the Jaguars with eight points and Jess Brewer had seven.
Radnor 52, Lower Merion 35 >> Ellie Rinehart paced a balanced scoring attack in Radnor’s season opener.
Ava Gummell added eight points, while Margaret Mooney and Cierra Hopson (seven rebounds) had seven apiece for Radnor. Bridget McCann led all scorers with 14 points for the Aces.
Penncrest 38, Upper Darby 24 >> Ashley Dawson’s 10-point effort helped the Lions get their first win of the season. Bridget Dawson added seven points and Bailey Garrison contributed six.
Aubrey Ennis netted 12 points for the Royals.
In nonleague action:
Sacred Heart 39, Christian Academy 16 >> ML Franz produced a career high 15 points to go with five steals for the Lions, who led 23-6 at halftime. Kathryn Gallagher added 10 points.
Lea Sareyka and Gabi Smith scored six points each for the Crusaders.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Rustin 67, Sun Valley 27 >> Savannah Lewis had eight points for the Vanguards (0-2).
