Spring-Ford 63, Owen J. Roberts 56 >> Zack Skrocki headed a quartet of double-figure scorers that lifted the Rams past the Wildcats in Wednesday’s Pioneer Athletic Conference game between Liberty Division rivals.
Skrocki’s 15-point effort led a balanced Spring-Ford offensive that included 11s from Tyler Irby and Gavin Schauder and 10 by Jake Kressley. Chase Johnson gave OJR a game-high 24 points, including a 6-for-6 showing from the foul line, Luke Fryer 14 and Brady Bolyn 11.
Phoenixville 55, Pottsgrove 40 >> Mike Memmo secured game scoring honors for the Phantoms in Wednesday’s PAC Frontier Division matchup with the Falcons.
Memmo hit for 17 points in helping Phoenixville go up 41-27 prior to the fourth quarter. James Thompson gave Pottsgrove scoring from long distance, his team-high 12 points collected off four shots from 3-point range.
Pope John Paul II 55, Pottstown 39 >> Luke McCarthy and JP Baron tied for a game-high 15 points while leading PJP to a PAC Frontier win over the Trojans.
McCarthy hit four threes in his 15-point night. Kevin Green added 14.
Nyles Bunn-McNeill led Pottstown with 11.
Fleetwood 49, Daniel Boone 40 >> The Tigers erupted for 26 points in the fourth quarter to overcome the Blazers in Wednesday’s non-divisional pairing of Berks League member schools.
Boone led 32-23 heading in the fourth quarter before Will Ryan scored nine points and Jake Karnish scored eight to rally Fleetwood. For the Blazers, Dalton Cymbalski scored 16 points and Michael Gaines 12.
Girls basketball
Spring-Ford 61, Owen J. Roberts 28 >> Lucy Olsen came close to equalling the Wildcats’ entire scoring output while leading the Rams to victory in PAC Liberty Division play Wednesday.
Olsen hit for a game-high 24 points as Spring-Ford opened a 34-15 halftime lead that went to 45-22 after three quarters. Anna Azzara and Emily Tiffan chipped in with respective 15- and 13-point performances while Roberts’ scoring was led by Avery White (13 points).
Pope John Paul II 70, Pottstown 33 >> Amelia Kennedy and Kallan Bustynowicz were the statistical standouts for the Golden Panthers as they rolled over the Trojans in Wednesday’s PAC Frontier Division action.
Kennedy hit for a game-high 22 points — one of four PJP players to finish in double figures — while Bustynowicz had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tess Crossan and Kayla Ciuba added 12 and 10 points, respectively; Hailey Jackson had 10 rebounds and Lainey Owens six steals.
Trinell Watson (19 points) and Calista Daye (12) accounted for the bulk of Pottstown’s offense.
Fleetwood 51, Daniel Boone 27 >> Alexis Hess scored 22 points and Julia Kaskey had 10 as the Tigers (3-2) beat the Blazers (0-6) in a non-divisional matchup of Berks League schools Wednesday.
Alex Grooms led Boone with nine points while Lyndsay Surkosky added seven.
Wrestling
Daniel Boone 75, Reading High 0 >> A 25-second fall by J.T. Hogan in the opening bout got the Blazers rolling toward Wednesday’s shutout of the undermanned Red Knights in Berks League action.
Along with Hogan’s pin at 145, Boone got drops from Josh Smith (160), Dean Houser (106), Stephen Spitko (126) and Nolan Brown (138); Spitko needed just 27 seconds to get the slap in his bout. also scored falls for Daniel Boone, which got a decision from Jake Pogash at 189 as it went to 5-0 on the season while accepting seven forfeits from Reading.
