Norristown remains in a delayed state

High school winter sports teams across the area returned to practice this week, but Norristown Area School District remains in a delayed state.

NASD Athletic Director Anthony Palladino said Wednesday: “Norristown has been approved for participation in the upcoming Winter season. However this is contingent upon pre determined COVID metrics being met. Until metrics reach such levels, athletics within the district will remain in a delayed state, virtual district wide workouts will continue to take place in the interim.”

The pre-determined metrics include the NASD-specific incidence rate staying below 75 cases per 100,000 people and the district-specific positivity rate staying below 7.5%.

The Montgomery County-specific incidence rate must stay below 100 cases per 100,000 people and the positivity rate needs to stay below 10%.

East Norriton, Norristown and West Norriton-specific incidence rates must also individually stay below 100 cases per 100,000 people and the positivity rates also need to individually stay below 10%.

Norristown did not participate in sports during the fall season.
