DLN ALL-AREA: Football First Team, 2nd Team & Honorable Mention

FIRST TEAM >> Offense

QB — Jack Capaldi, Malvern Prep, Jr.

Stepped in as a first-year starter and threw for 632 yards, six touchdowns and one interception in four games, with an area-high rating of 164.4.

RB — Dayshawn Jacobs, West Chester Rustin, Jr.

Got his chance after injuries and led the area with 854 total yards and 14 touchdowns. Finished second with 677 rush yards.

RB — Mitch Ragni, West Chester East, Soph.

Burst onto the scene with an area-high 793 rush yards and 10 touchdowns, highlighted by a 232-yard game against West Chester Henderson.

WR — Pete Detwiler, Conestoga, Jr.

Led the area in receiving with 28 receptions for 565 yards and a pair of touchdowns, earning First Team All-Central League honors.

WR — Jack Scott, West Chester East, Sr.

A key cog in the Vikings’ short passing attack, led them with 21 receptions for 301 yards, as well as two touchdowns.

TE — Nick Lovenguth, Downingtown East, Sr.

A physical blocker on a run-first team, added 12 receptions for 140 yards and two scores in four games.

OL — Cole Deery, Malvern Prep, Jr.

A monster two-way force, Deery excelled as a ferocious blocker in the middle of the Friars’ line.

OL — Caelan Krasley, Downingtown East, Sr.

Another in a long line of powerful Cougar linemen, Krasley helped East to the second-most rush yards per game in the area.

OL — Jake Walton, Coatesville, Sr.

Was a veteran presence on an offense that saw a lot of turnover from the year prior, helping the Red Raiders back to the postseason.

OL — John Shallo, West Chester Rustin, Sr.

On the Golden Knights’ vaunted buck sweep, Shallo was the big man pulling and clearing the way for the top run game in the area.

OL — Drew Shelton, Downingtown West, Jr.

The Penn State commit saw more action on defense this year, but has made a name for himself as a stalwart on the O-line.

ATH — Isaiah Wright, Malvern Prep, Jr.

A two-way star, Wright’s explosiveness was on display with 337 rush yards and four touchdowns in four games.

K — Bobby Smith, Avon Grove, Sr.

Did all the kicking and punting for the Red Devils, highlighting his senior year with a 37-yard field goal.

FIRST TEAM >> Defense

DL — Chayse Scott, Coatesville, Jr.

Buoyed a strong defensive line that held opponents to 91 rush yards a game.

DL — Jonny Luongo, Downingtown East, Sr.

An anchor on the Cougars’ line, he made himself at home in opponent’s backfields.

DL — Cos Villari, Downingtown West, Jr.

An explosive player off the edge, Villari made a name for himself as a disruptive force.

DL — Yadyn Cooper, West Chester East, Sr.

The elder statesman of the Vikings’ 3-4 attack, his veteran leadership will be hard to replace.

LB — Jake Brownley, Malvern Prep, Sr.

The Harvard lacrosse commit led the area with four interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns.

LB — Anthony Meadows, West Chester Rustin, Jr.

His ability to attack seams and meet ballcarriers in the backfield helped Rustin reach the District 1-5A title game.

LB — Will Mahmud, Downingtown West, Jr.

In his second year as a starter, Mahmud continued his progression as a ball-hawking backer and edge rusher.

LB — Nolan O’Hara, Coatesville, Jr.

Coatesville has been blessed with heady, tough-nosed linebackers the last decade, and O’Hara continues the tradition.

DB — Abdul Sabur-Stewart, Coatesville, Sr.

Voted All-State by the writers, Sabur-Stewart was as much a playmaker (two interceptions) as he was an enforcer.

DB — D’Angelo Stocker, Malvern Prep, Jr.

A Division 1 recruit, Stocker picked off one pass to enhance a very talented Friars’ secondary.

DB — Elijah Ford, Downingtown West, Jr.

Part of a defense that allowed 58 pass yards or fewer all four games, but was best known for his DK Metcalf-esque chase-down of Coatesville’s Harrison Susi.

DB — Riley Boutin, West Chester East, Sr.

Racked up 55 tackles and five pass breakups to bolster one of the stronger units of the East defense.

P — Ronan Swope, Malvern Prep, Sr.

Boasting one of the biggest legs in the area, Swope averaged 40 yards per punt his final two seasons.
