Plymouth Whitemarsh 12, Abington 1 >> Plymouth Whitemarsh scored five times in a seven-minute span at the end of the first quarter as the Colonials cruised Wednesday to clinch the outright SOL Liberty Division title.
Ava Borkowski finished with four goals while Kaleigh Missimer had three goals and three assists for PW (9-0-0, 9-0-0 division), which has now won an outright SOL conference or division championship for an eighth consecutive season.
Regan Gehman added two goals, Hailey Copestick collected a goal and two assists and Molly Lynch recorded a pair of assists for the Colonials, who led 8-0 at halftime. Alexa DeLucca and Jules Tulio both scored a goal while Sarah Trask three saves.
North Penn 3, Central Bucks South 0 >> Eleni Kountroubis and Erin O’Donnell each had a goal and an assist while Mallory Stowell made saves as North Penn ended Senior Night by claiming its third win in a row.
“Even though we gave up too many penalty corners tonight, I was proud of our corner defensive team (led by Maddie Waldspurger and goalie Mallory Stowell) playing tough in the circle and turning away South’s offense,” North Penn coach Shannon McCracken said.
Central Bucks South out-cornered the Knights 14-3 in the SOL Colonial matchup but NP’s defense produced its third shutout of the year.
Kountroubis gave North Penn (5-3-0, 5-3-0 division) a 1-0 lead off an O’Donnell assist at 7:16 in the first quarter. O’Donnell made it 2-0 at 13:13 in the third while Kountroubis assisted on Bay Detweiler’s goal that put the Knights up three with 4:35 left in the fourth.
Gwen DiPrinzio made two saves for CB South (3-5-1, 3-5-1).
“I am so proud of this senior class; Megan Albert, Katie Blanch, Ali Hoffman, Eleni Kountroubis, Claire Owsiany, Michele Park, Lily Ridgway, Maura Schaeffer, Lindsay Stone, Mallory Stowell, and Maddie Zartman,” McCracken said. “They are an amazing group of student athletes who love the game, work hard, care about each other, are committed to our program, and show heart and hustle on the field. They have faced adversity and the uncertainty of this season with grace and maturity and it is admirable.”
Dock Mennonite 6, Bristol 0 >> Sarah Curry finished with two goals as Dock Mennonite scored twice in both the first and second quarters to staying undefeated.
Ainsley Moyer and Celeste Derstine each collected a goal and an assist for the Pioneers (8-0-0, 8-0-0 BAL).
“We started off slow but strong second quarter — we are playing some great team hockey,” Dock coach Michelle Waldspurger said.
Curry opened scoring at 3:10 in the first quarter while Erin Miles’ goal assisted by Kylie Godshall with 1:36 left in the quarter made it 2-0.
In the second quarter, Curry pushed the lead to three at 12:25 while Moyer struck on a corner at 9:29 with Derstine getting the assist to put Dock up 4-0 at halftime.
Derstine scored at 4:10 in the third off a Moyer assist. In the fourth, Olivia Zaskoda found the back of the net on a corner with 6:04 remaining.
Bristol goalkeeper Camryn Guy made 10 saves.
Jenkintown 6, Delco Christian 0 >> Kaelin DiMaria recorded a hat trick while Carly Mulvaney collected a pair of assists as Jenkintown earned a shutout BAL win.
Adelyn Smith finished with a goal and an assist for the Drakes. Rose McCafferty and Julia Brandt each scored a goal. while Sarah Cummings had an assist.
