Mercury Cross Country Roundup (Sept. 26): OJR girls, boys sweep Methacton

Boys Cross Country

Owen J. Roberts 24, Methacton 31 >> Andrew McGonigal was a runaway winner for the Wildcats as they opened their PAC season Friday by outrunning the Warriors,

McGonigal covered his home course at Warwick Park in 16:58, more than 30 seconds ahead of Methacton leader and race runner-up Bryan Landsberg (17:34). John DiMartino followed in third (17:38) for Roberts, which was bolstered by a 5-6 showing from Matt Kwiatkowski and Seb Herrada.

Spring-Ford 25, Boyertown 36 >> While Eric Muthersbaugh and Cameron Kratz went 1-2 for the Bears Friday, the Rams swept through the next eight spots in the Top 10 to claim victory in this PAC meet.

Muthersbaugh and Kratz ran respective 16:49 and 16:55 atop the finishing order, Spring-Ford was led by Quintin Smith’s third (17:08), Liam Baker’s fourth (17:40) and Anthony Bamford’s fifth (17:54).

Girls Cross Country

Boyertown 24, Spring-Ford 32 >> Alyssa Albanese headed the Bears’ strong showing as they opened their PAC schedule Friday with a victory over the Rams.

Albanese covered her home course in 22:52, beating out SF leader Abigail Duersch (23:07). Zora Bergey came in third (23:27) for Boyertown, which placed six runners in the Top 10.

Owen J. Roberts 22, Methacton 34 >> Maggie Lustig and Calista Van Druff set a fast pace for the Wildcats as they opened their PAC season Friday against the Warriors.

Lustig won the race in 21:35, and Van Druff (21:55) followed for the race’s lone sub-22 minute clockings. Molly Thomas (22;02) and Bipasha Moktan (22:12) went 3-4 to lead Methacton.
