Senior Spotlight: Saville savored his time at Pennridge

Ethan Saville has always been sort of a history buff when it comes to Pennridge track and field.

“I always enjoyed hearing about past runners that went to Pennridge and their successes,” he shared. “I felt like it drove me to do more as an athlete.

“Also, coach (Bob) Hosier has been a great coach with his assistant coach in coach Wills, over the years that have pushed us to do our best individually and as a team.”

The Rams have built quite a legacy, and Saville was looking forward to adding to it.

“My goals for the spring season were to run at the state meet, run under 4:30 in the mile and improve my 800 time,” he said.

Fun Atmosphere >> So the spring season never happened. But Saville will savor the time he had on the track, and looks back on his times at Pennridge fondly.

“I missed my team a lot, especially the daily jokes and pranks,” he said.

Saville did a lot of weight training during the shutdown and also grinded out some hill workouts.

“The best thing I like about track is the feeling that I get after I complete a workout or long run,” he said.

Keeping Busy >> Saville didn’t just sit around during the down time.

“The shutdown has allowed me to spend time with my three brothers playing basketball,” he said. “My three-point range is now unstoppable and my layup game is even better.”

The distance standout brought the same intensity to his two mile.

“I wish I could have ended my high school track career with a better time in the 3,200, but, overall, I was able to improve it each year by a couple of seconds,” he said.

Saville heads to the next level in the fall – he’ll be running cross country and track at West Chester University.
