ROUNDUP: Quartapella helps Haverfiord’s hockey team to first place

Daniel Quartapella assisted on the winning goal and added an insurance tally to lift Haverford to a 5-3 win over Strath Haven to wrap up first place in the ICSHL Central Division Friday night.

Quartapella and Jacob Orazi set up Alex Gattone to give the Fords a 4-1 lead in the second period. Quartapella put home a pass from Nathan Radadam in the third period to extend the advantage to 5-2.

Quartapella finished with two goals and one assist. Gattone had one goal and one assist, while Jagur McClelland and Jackson McCormick netted goals for the Fords.

Josh Peabody (two goals, one assist) and Nick Dignazio (one goal, one assist) paced the Panthers.

Elsewhere in the Central Division:

Conestoga 8, Radnor 2 >> The Pioneers scored the first five goals, three by Frank Konopasek, and never looked back. Konopasek finished with five goals and one assist.

Clayton Karnavas had one goal and one assist, and Luc VonCzoering added one goal for Radnor.

In ICSHL Liberty action:

Sun Valley 11, Harriton 1 >> Nine players scored as the Vanguards rolled over the Rams.

Joseph Bonacquisti and Patrick Brees paced the offense with two goals each. Jimmy Wynes collected one goal and two assists, while Ian finley, Hayden McGinnis and Julian Diehl added one goal and one assist apiece.


Ridley Mason Beck finished in 10th place at the District 1 Class 3A diving championships at North Penn High School. Beck finished with a score of 391.25. Sam Henninger of Abington won the title with a score of 606.10.

Marple Newtown’s Demetrios Tsitsios (360.10)placed 14th and Radnor’s Brian Chettle (151.90) was 21st.
