ROUNDUP: Cassidy, Haverford blank Conestoga in hockey

Haverford High netminder Tyler Cassidy registered his sixth shutout of the season in a 5-0 boys hockey win over Conestoga Monday.

Cassidy turned aside all 31 shots he faced for the Fords, who sit atop the ICSHL Central standings with a 15-1 record.

Alex Gattone potted two goals and two assists, while Daniel Quartapella tallied two goals and one helper. Jacob Orazi dumped in a goal and two assists.

Strath Haven, Radnor 2 >> Josh Peabody scored twice and Charlie Leuthold and Morgan Bensel had a goal apiece for the Panthers, who outshot the Raiders, 58-13.

Robert Toomey and Andrew Knight each found the back of the net in the loss.

Lower Merion 6, Ridley 4 >> The Aces netted five unanswered goals in the third period to stun the Green Raiders. Schuyler Dillon scored the tying and go-ahead goals, while David Wilf finished with a hat trick and two assists.

Justin Chiango finished with two goals and an assist for the Green Raiders.

Cardinal O’Hara 3, Boyertown 0 >> Primo Baldassare finished with 34 saves in a blanking of the Bears.

Steve Graney, John Shelton and Michael Anastasi each scored a goal for the Lions.

Girls Basketball

Sun Valley picked a good day to host senior night for its girls basketball team.

Sophomore Aliceia Whitfield poured in a game-high 18 points as four Vanguards reached double figures in scoring during a 66-25 shellacking of Chester.

Jaina Preuhs scored 12 points, Micaylah Heygood had 11 and Rory Tiedeman finished with 10 for the Vanguards (5-15), who led 43-11 at halftime.

Sun Valley shot 26-for-37 at the free-throw line.

Toni Taylor paced the Clippers with 13 points.

In other nonleague action:

Delco Christian 46, Chichester 38 >> Emily Smith produced 15 points, including four 3-point baskets, and Caitlyn Goneau added 13 points for the Knights.

No individual scoring information on Chichester was reported to the Daily Times.

Boys Basketball

Ridley bolstered its chances at earning a home game in next week’s District 1 Class 6A tournament with a 68-51 triumph over Boys’ Latin.

Josh Howard netted seven of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Jack Grace (13 points) and Cam Farro (11) each drilled three 3-point field goals and Khalil Henson added 12 points for the Green Raiders (11-9)

In other nonleague action:

Sun Valley 36, Interboro 28 >> The Vanguards led 20-6 at halftime and were able to fend off a late rally by the Bucs.

Billy Fisher paced the Vanguards with 19 points.

Logan McCaffrey amassed 13 points for the Bucs.
