Episcopal pens emphatic finish to unbeaten dual-meet season

The Episcopal Academy boys swimming and diving team is the Inter-Ac champion once again.

Four double-event winners helped pace the Churchmen to a 101-85 win over Malvern Prep Tuesday, wrapping up the league title with a perfect 4-0 record.

Sam Wesley won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Ben Wesley claimed the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Cole Whitsett won the 50 free and 100 butterfly. And Jack Christian claimed the 100 backstroke and 100 free to make a clean sweep of the individual swimming events. EA also won the medley and 400 free relays, with Christian and Ben Wesley represented on both squads.

Malvern Prep’s lone individual win came in diving via Nick Harris, who set an EA pool record with an astronomical score of 404.93.

Also in the Inter-Ac:

Haverford School 99, Germantown Academy 83 >> Brian Brennan won the 200 IM and 100 free and swam a leg on the victorious 200 free relay to pace the Fords.

Antonio Octaviano claimed the 100 breast, Jack Deppen was quickest in the 200 free and Bobby Blewett sprinted to the 50 free win. Anton Crescente added a win in the 100 back, and AJ Rosenberger was the top diver with 232.73 points. Octaviano, Deppen and Blewett were on two victorious relays apiece for the Fords (3-1).

Girls Swimming

Mia Skyman’s tally of 195.38 points earned her the win in diving, but Agnes Irwin dropped a 106-73 decision to Germantown Academy.

Rosa Huffman won the 100 free for the Owls, their only swimming victory.
