Mercury Swimming Roundup (Jan. 14): Methacton, Spring-Ford, Boyertown pick up sweeps

Methacton 93, Upper Perkiomen 75 >> Jan Perez Bonilla figured on four winning efforts by the Warriors in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Indians.

Perez Bonilla headed the 50 free (23.19) and 100 fly (55.69) in addition to swimming legs of Methacton’s first-place 20 medley (1:49.18) and 200 free (1:34.81) relays. Sean Lyman gave Upper Perk first in the 200 IM (2;00.09) and 100 free (50.75) and swam the lead leg of its winning 400 free relay (3;30.10).

Spring-Ford 114, Perkiomen Vallely 56 >> Brendan Baganski and Sean Laing each won pairs of individual races to lead the Rams’ PAC victory over the Vikings Tuesday.

Baganski took the 50 free (22.12) and 100 free (50.27), with Laing doing the same in the 200 IM (2:13.11) and 100 fly (54.24). Jacob Replogle got firsts for PV in the 500 free (4:46.27) and 100 back (55.19).

Boyertown 95, Upper Merion 75 >> Owen Miller and Nolan Benner combined to get the Bears six of their first-place finishes in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Miller won the 200 free (1:47.69) and 100 free (48.75), as did Benner in the 200 IM (2:01.44) and 100 fly (53.69). They also swam legs of Boyertown’s winning 200 free (1:31.02) and 400 free (3:27.18) relays.

Girls Swimming

Methacton 89, Upper Perkiomen 82 >> In Tuesday’s close PAC meet, Alex Ferrance and Amanda Tsai each won pairs of individual events to lift the Warriors past the Indians.

Ferrance headed the 200 free (2:07.57) and 100 fly (1:03.60) while Tsai won the 200 IM (2:28.75) and 100 back (1:04.84). Noel Fresa won two individual events to lead UP: The 50 free (24.94) and 100 free (55.79).

Spring-Ford 109, Perkiomen Valley 61 >> The Rams swept the top spots in every event during Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Ashley Gutshall had a school record day for Spring-Ford with her firsts in the 50 free (24.58) and 100 free (56.30). Emma Thomas (200 free, 1:59.29 and 500 free, 5:23.32), and Anna Curran (200 IM, 2:18.96 and 100 breast, 1:01.92) were other two-event winners for Spring-Ford.

Boyertown 93, Upper Merion 72 >> Katherine Kummerer and Gabrielle McKee were two-event winners for the Bears in Tuesday’s PAC meet with the Vikings.

Kummerer took the 200 free (2:07.00) and 100 free (58.31) while McKee led the 100 fly (1:00.08) and 100 back (1:00.28). McKee also swam legs on Boyertown’s winning 200 medley (1:56.66) and 200 free (1:40.06) relays.
