ROUNDUP: McCreary, Harty help Episcopal to first victory

A balanced scoring attack carried Episcopal Academy to its first win of the season.

Caroline McCreary tallied 10 points and five rebounds in the Churchwomen’s 41-30 decision against Inter-Ac League rival Baldwin School.

Cara Harty and Amanda Purcell netted eight points apiece for the Churchwomen (1-4). Gaeli Keffer-Scharpf added seven points in the win.

In the Central League:

Springfield 42, Marple Newtown 34 >> Rachel Conran scored a game-high 16 points to power the Cougars (3-2) to their third consecutive victory. Alyssa Long chipped in with nine points, while Carli Johnston and Alexa Abbonizio had eight apiece.

At halftime, Springfield honored the girls lacrosse team that won the PIAA Class 3A championship last spring. Five of the team members also play for the basketball squad.

Haley Levy led the way for the Tigers with 15 points.

Ridley 69, Conestoga 29 >> The Green Raiders cruised to their fourth consecutive win behind Lindsay Boyd, who poured in 23 points. Shannen Hinchey pitched in with 11 points, and Dakota McCaughan paired 10 points with seven helpers. Shea McNamara added 10 points in the victory.

Strath Haven 41, Penncrest 28 >> Danielle McNeely had three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for the Panthers, who led 20-11 at halftime.

Ashley Rodgers led the way for the Lions with nine points.

Garnet Valley 49, Lower Merion 20 >> Mary Rose Berry (two steals) and Gianna Preising scored 13 points each for the Jaguars (4-1, 2-1), who led 15-0 after one quarter. Liesl Dentinger added 10 points, and Jess Brewer pitched in with four points and five rebounds.

Radnor 57, Harriton 47 >> The Raiders got a boost from reserve players Sally Austen and Margaret Mooney.

Austen came off the bench for seven straight points in the first quarter on the way to career-high nine points. Mooney added eight points to give the Raiders the lead for good.

Ellie Mueller totaled 11 points, six assists and five steals for Radnor. Brienne Williams contributed 10 points and four steals.

Haverford 57, Upper Darby 31 >> Chiara MacGillivray and Caroline Dotsey paced the Fords with 14 points each and combined for 17 of Haverford’s 21 points in the third quarter, when the Fords outscored the Royals, 21-7.

Aubrey Ennis (12 points) and Jasmine Forrester (10) each hit double figures in scoring for UD.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 55, Archbishop Ryan 39 >> Ten players got on the score sheet for the Lions, who led 31-16 at intermission. Siobhan Boylan netted a game-high 10 points. Sydni Scott and Amaris Baker chipped in with nine points each, and Maggie Doogan finished with eight.

West Catholic 57, Archbishop Carroll 51 >> Without All-Delco guard Erin Sweeney for a third straight game, the Patriots fell in overtime to the Burrs. WC scored all six points in the extra session.

Taylor Wilson led three Carroll players in double figures with 16 points to go with six rebounds. Grace O’Neill tossed in 14 points, while Maggie Grant added 10. Karli Dougherty paired nine points with seven rebounds.

In nonleague action:

Downingtown East 62, Penn Wood 50 >> Xenia Gillis (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Racquel Curry (10 points, 11 rebounds) each posted double-doubles for the Patriots. LaShonda Smith led all Penn Wood players with 13 points.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Great Valley 51, Sun Valley 33 >> Maya Morris scored a team-high 10 points for the Vanguards (1-5), who trailed 10-8 in the first quarter before being outscored 20-4 the rest of the opening half.
