Mercury Boys Basketball Roundup: Dorsey, Hill School pull away from Penn Charter

Hill School 72, Penn Charter 63 >> Caleb Dorsey scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half as Hill took control after the break in a non-league Saturday.

Gabe Dorsey scored 13, Zach Lezanic 11 and Gabriel Moss 10 for balanced Hill.

Perkiomen School 68, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 40 >> Leading 29-27 at halftime, Perkiomen put the clamps down defensively and pulled away in a non-league win Saturday.

Perkiomen was led by Josh Odunowo’s 17 points. Honor Huff and Gilbert Otoo both scored 15 each.

Perkiomen plays next on Wednesday in their second Great Atlantic Conference league game against Scotland Campus Sports, currently the No. 4 ranked prep school in the country.


Central Bucks West 56, Spring-Ford 53 >> The Rams’ big fourth quarter rally fell short as the Bucks went 2-0 in the PAC/SOL Challenge Saturday at Perkiomen Valley.

Zack Skrocki scored 10 of his 13 points in the final frame, but the 13-point deficit was too large to overcome. Pat Kovaleski (14) and Tre Medearis (10) also scored in double figures for SF.

Owen Haney scored 11 for CB West.

Tyler Lapetina had a team-high 16 for PV. Aidan Quinn added 11.

Michael Farley led CB South, which took control in the second quarter, with 16 points.

Academy Park 86, Pottsgrove 50 >> Academy Park’s Jalen Cassidy torched the Falcons with eight 3-pointers and a game-high 33 points on the final day of the Pottsgrove tournament.

Zion Dyches scored 17 to lead Pottsgrove while Nick Stringer added 10.

Upper Merion 66, Upper Perkiomen 56 >> In a non-league meeting at the Upper Moreland tournament, Lukas Kim scored 10 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter to lift the Vikings.

Ty Jones dropped 16 and Nick Shepperd added 15 for UM. Sean Boyle scored 17 to lead Upper Perk.

Harriton 63, Phoenixville 51 >> Markus Bradley-Lowry hit five 3s and scored 27 points to lead the Rams over the host Phantoms.
Steven Hamilton hit for 24 points, including 18 in the second half, to carry Phoenixville. Mike Memmo scored 14 as the Phantoms hung in after a first half they trailed 32-11.


Methacton 69, Malvern Prep 60 >> The Warriors got big games from Jeff Woodward and Erik Timko in a win at the Play by Play Fred Pickett Classic held at Chester High School Saturday. Woodward scored 25 and Timko 23 to key the Methacton offense.

Central Bucks West 45, Perkiomen Valley 33 >> The Vikings were stifled by their Suburban One League foe Friday in the PAC/SOL challenge at CB West.

Tyler Lapetina scored seven points followed by Aidan Gansz with six points. The Bucks outscored PV by seven at the line.

Phoenixville 73, Kennett 59 >> The Phantoms rallied in the second half with some strong free-throw shooting to win their opener Friday.

Senior guard Steven Hamilton scored 19 points and was 14-for-14 from the line as part of Phoenixville’s 27-for-31 night.
Mike Memmo had 18 points while Will Allain added 12.
