Pennridge can’t keep up with CB East

EAST ROCKHILL >> In the regular season finale, the Pennridge Rams fell to Central Bucks East 28-6 on Friday night.

The Rams have close to a month off before renewing their rivalry with Quakertown on Thanksgiving.

Before the opening kickoff Friday, Pennridge High School honored its seniors as part of the senior night festivities.

The game started off great for the Rams defense as the game was held scoreless heading into the second quarter.

However, Patriot quarterback Anthony Giordano got Central Bucks East on the board with a three-yard run for a touchdown, which was the only scoring play of the first half.

In the third quarter, Giordano took the ball again capping the Patriots first drive with a one-yard touchdown run.

After Pennridge lost a fumble on the first play of its first drive of the second half, the Patriots capitalized on great starting field position by getting a seven-yard touchdown run for Giordano’s third rushing touchdown of the game.

The Patriots would not stop there. With five minutes left in the third quarter, Giordano launched a 15-yard touchdown pass to William Silverman to increase the lead to 28-0 after three quarters.

Even though the Patriots had the game wrapped up in the fourth quarter, the Rams found a way to prevent a shutout.

With five minutes left in the game, Pennridge quarterback Bobby Croyle threw a 15-yard pass to Elias Dantzler for six points before the extra point attempt missed.

With sad emotions coming out of the Rams after the final whistle, Pennridge head coach Cody Muller had a positive message for the graduating seniors.

“I’m proud of them,” said Muller. “I’m extremely proud of them but I told them they’re going to face adversity throughout the rest of their life and you just got to keep pushing and working hard and never back down from a challenge.”

“Our performance today was up and down,” said Muller. “Offensively we shot ourselves in the foot a couple times then in the second half we faced adversity in different situations and it hurts.”

With the win, the Central Bucks East Patriots improve to 6-4 and will wait to see if they advance to the PIAA 6A District One playoffs, which begins next Friday.
