McKenna’s seven-serve run makes difference for Sacred Heart

Emily McKenna came up big at the service line in the fifth set to lead Sacred Heart to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Gwynedd Mercy Academy in Catholic Academies League volleyball action Tuesday.

Trailing 13-6, McKenna served seven straight points to tie the match and help the Lions pull out the 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 28-26, 16-14 triumph.

Hannah Martinson had a monster game with 20 aces, 13 digs, 12 kills and 10 aces. Eric Corcoran added 14 kills and five aces, while Elizabeth Cuskey contributed nine kills and two aces for the Lions (2-1).

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 3, Conwell Egan 0 >> Kelly Eisenhart recorded seven aces to help the Pandas (3-0, 2-0) stay undefeated with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-7 victory.

Lindsay Fagan collected four aces, three kills and six assists. Alexis Piccone pounded three kills and Omotayo Ogunbiyi added five aces and four blocks.

In nonleague action:

Strath Haven 3, Sun Valley 2 >> Gabby McGinn totaled 12 digs, 10 kills and two aces to pace the Panthers to the 17-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20, 15-11 victory. Ellie Fisher collected 16 digs, 12 kills and two aces. Liv Dumont had 23 kills, nine digs, four blocks and three aces.

Emily McGinn (three aces, two kills, two blocks), Meghan Prenderast (15 digs, two aces) and Emily Crowther (14 digs, two aces) also came up big.

Hannah Vickers paced the Vanguards (1-3) with 14 kills and nine digs. Olivia Nickerson had 10 kills and 16 digs, while Rachel DiCarlo recorded 19 digs.
