Coatesville QB Ortega decides to stay close to home; picks Villanova

Less than a week after one of the top quarterbacks in the state — Downingtown West junior, Will Howard — announced that he will play his collegiate football at Kansas State, another Ches-Mont league signalcaller has made his college choice.

Coatesville’s Ricky Ortega has given his verbal to Villanova. Ortega, who has passed for over 7,000 yards and thrown over 100 touchdown passes to go with 2,200 rushing yards so far in high school, chose the Wildcats over Army, Monmouth, Elon, Holy Cross and others.

Ortega has led Coatesville to three straight Ches-Mont National Division championships as well as two consecutive District 1 titles and have gone to two straight PIAA semifinals.

The next Ches-Mont league Divsion 1 prospect to announce his college intention is Coatesville star receiver Dapree Bryant.

The Red Raider receiver has offers from Delaware, Air Force, Monmouth and others.
