Ridley’s Hamlin, Mayer halt Haverford

Izzy Hamlin’s big night inside the paint carried Ridley to a 49-41 Central League victory over Haverford Friday.

Hamlin, a senior forward, racked up 20 points and 14 rebounds, including 12 in the first half.

Hailee Mayer paired 12 points with four steals for the Green Raiders (8-10, 5-7), who shot a crisp 13-for-15 at the free-throw line.

Erin Doherty paced Haverford with 11 points, while Erin Kelly added 10.

In other Central League action:

Springfield 33, Strath Haven 20 >> Belle Mastropietro was a defensive machine for the Cougars, who won their 14th in a row. The sophomore forward had 10 steals and four rebounds to go with a game-high 15 points.

Morgan Crain led the way for Strath Haven with 12 points, including a pair of 3-point field goals.

Garnet Valley 65, Upper Darby 25 >> Brianne Borcky, Mary Kate Shea and Brooklyn Ireland led a balanced scoring attack with eight points apiece for the first-place Jaguars (16-1, 11-0), who held a 21-2 advantage after the first quarter. Camryn Faith tossed in seven points.

Emma Blewett poured in a game-high 13 points for the Royals.

Radnor 57, Marple Newtown 39 >> Allison Lanzone matched her career high in points with 22, including 18 in the first three quarters, as the Raiders (13-5, 8-4) downed the Tigers at home. Ellie Mueller added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Nicole Massimino contributed nine points, five assists and five steals.

In the Bicentennial League:

Christian Academy 49, Dock Mennonite 13 >> Danay Cooks-Green (13 points), Grace Gormley (10) and Lindsay Haseltine (10) all finished with double digits in scoring for the Crusaders (13-2, 7-1). Haseltine flirted with a triple-double as she posted 10 rebounds and seven steals.

In the Catholic League:

Archbishop Wood 42, Archbishop Carroll 33 >> The Patriots trailed by a point at halftime, but were outscored by the host Vikings, 19-11, in the second half. Maggie Pina scored 11 points and Bella Sorrentino added seven points for Carroll. Theresa Kearney chipped in with four points and eight rebounds.

In nonleague action:

Sacred Heart 51, Bristol 32 >> Eileen Piombino netted 10 of her game-high 17 points in the opening quarter to pace the Lions (11-7). He hit five 3-pointers in the first period and had 13 points at intermission.

Kyra Quigley added 11 points and Katie Gillin scored a career-high seven points for Sacred Heart.
