Merion Mercy wins District One field hockey title

Merion Mercy Academy captured claimed the PIAA District One 2A field hockey title with a 3-1 win in the championship final Nov. 4 against Mount St. Joseph at Methacton High School.
Fresh off their win over Villa Maria that advanced MMA to the finals, Merion Mercy got goals from seniors Kelsey Farkas, Allie Scannapieco, and Caroline Steller.

Merion Mercy coach Greta Ehret said, “Merion girls continue to put all their energy and effort into every single minute of post season play (and) that paid off with a district championship! Congratulations to an amazing group of seniors and our three wonderful captains Jaime Natale, Kelsey Farkas, and Kolbe Keating. This (was) a well deserved win.  We’re looking forward to States.”

Merion Mercy plays Gettysburg in the opening round of the PIAA 2A State Tournament Tuesday at Avon Grove High School.
