Balance lifts Upper Darby over Pottstown for second win

Wins have been tough to come by for the Upper Darby girls soccer team this season, so Monday’s 3-2 nonleague victory over Pottstown had to be sweet for the Royals.

Ali Schell, Gabby Liberio and Jaclyn Castell scored one goal each to give the Royals their second victory of the season. Goalie Alyssa Hanrahan made five saves to get the win.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Sun Valley 2, Bishop Shanahan 2 >> Sami Bowen had two goals as the Vanguards (8-7-1, 4-7-1) and Eagles battled to a double overtime draw.

Bowen put home a pass from Olivia Lambert to tie the game and then converted a feed from freshman Jackie Oldham to put Sun Valley in front, 2-1. Elisabeth Morgan had a strong game in the midfield for the Vanguards.

In the Central League:

Conestoga 3, Lower Merion 2 >> Ceara Sweeney blasted a shot from the corner of the 18-yard line to lift the Pioneers over the Aces.

Hannah Morgan and Rachel Dirico also scored for Conestoga (12-0-4 overall, 9-0-2 league).

In the Bicentennial League:

Christian Academy 5, Calvary Christian 4 >> Lindsay Haseltine tallied four times, including the winner in the second overtime. Hannah Sareyka also scored for the Crusaders.
