Main Line girls’ soccer wrapup: Conestoga improves to 6-0-1

The Conestoga girls’ soccer team (6-0-1, 4-0) defeated Marple Newtown, 5-0, Tuesday. Only one goal was scored in the first half, with the other four coming after the break. The goal scorers in order were Madie French (volley from top of the 18 on corner kick), Caitlyn Ellerbeck (hard shot from range that hit the crossbar and went in), Emily Wertz (header off of a far-post cross), Emily Wertz (dribble into box from wing and blasted near post, and Madie French (pass to pass finish inside the box). Assists were in this order: Emily Wertz, Rachel Dirico, Madie French, Caitlyn Ellerbeck and Wertz. Conestoga held a 23-2 shot advantage and a 5-2 corner advantage. Colleen Baldwin and Maeve Regan split the game in goal for Stoga, with Regan making two saves.

In other Main Line high school girls’ soccer action:

Agnes Irwin defeated Archbishop Carroll, 5-2, Tuesday. Goals for Agnes Irwin were scored by Alicia O’Neil, Maria Pansini (two goals, assisted by Annie McConnon and Natalie Pansini), Grace Smith (assisted by Lydia Bartosh) and Natalie Pansini.
The Owls defeated Radnor, 3-2, Sept. 17. Agnes Irwin took a 2-0 lead after Natalie Pansini scored twice. Maura Holst scored on a penalty kick for Radnor and then the Red Raiders’ Nicole Massimino equalized the score at 2-2. Grace Smith scored the winner for Agnes Irwin in the last minute from a long throw-in by Sarah McConnon.
Baldwin School improved to 6-0 with a 8-0 home victory against Hallahan Catholic Sept. 14. Rachel White and Carly McIntosh each scored two goals, Gia Vicari had a goal and an assist, and single goals were scored by Jen Dietrich (assisted by Kahlaa Cannady), Natalie Sgro (assisted by Olivia Dewitt) and McKenna Matus (assisted by Alex Loomis). Baldwin goalie Simi Bleznak, who has five shutouts in her first six games, had two saves. Baldwin has outscored its opponents 19-1 so far this season.
Conestoga defeated Radnor, 2-1, Sept. 15. Radnor scored with five seconds left in the first half courtesy of a shot from range by Maura Holst. Conestoga fired right back in the second half though with two goals scored by freshman forward Caitlin Donovan. The first goal was unassisted and the second was slotted across the face of goal by Rachel Dirico. The shots-on-goal count was 19-3 in Conestoga’s favor. Conestoga’s keepers, Colleen Baldwin and Maeve Regan split the game, with the goal against in the first half against Baldwin. Radnor keeper Alexa Solomon made 10 saves.
Episcopal Academy defeated Germantown Academy, 1-0, Tuesday. The winning goal was scored by Izzy Rohr, with an assist from Josie Konopka.
EA defeated Westtown, 2-1, Sept. 17. Lily Shaner and Molly O’Brien scored EA goals, with assists from Lauren Cunningham and Mahddie Loughead. EA goalie Morgan Messner had six saves.
Three days earlier, EA defeated Lawrenceville, 5-1, Sept. 14. Raina Kuzemka scored two goals, and Molly O’Brien dished out two assists. EA goalies Morgan Messner and Hannah Moriarity combined for six saves.
Merion Mercy Academy defeated Gwynedd Mercy Academy, 2-1, Sept. 15. Merion goals were scored By captains Michaela Coppinger and Caila Olivo.
