Mercury-Area Volleyball: PJP, Methacton, Upper Merion win via straight sets

Pope John Paul II 3, Spring-Ford 0 >> The Golden Panthers got plenty of support in their sweep of the Rams. Six players compiled significant statistics in PJP’s 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 run.

Alana Pergine had 11 kills, Mary Kate Mooney seven and Myah Cordrey five kills to go with nine services points. Hayley Wusinich had 14 assists, 11 digs and nine services points, Alyssa Cianciulli added 14 digs and four aces, and Shelby Horgan chipped in with nine digs, 12 services points and four aces.

Methacton 3, Owen J. Roberts 0 >>  Mikayla McLeod, Michelle Frank and Catherine Cervi were the statistical stars for the Warriors as they swept their PAC match with the Wildcats. Methacton won by scores of 25-7, 25-12 and 25-15.

McLeod  had three kills and six digs, with Frank adding one kill and six digs. Cervi was credited with two blocks.

Upper Merion 3, Phoenixville 0 >> Kayla Grammerstorf and Keara Hennessey were the leaders for the Phantoms in their PAC match with the Vikings. Upper Merion swept the contest by set scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-9.

Kayla Grammerstorf made six blocks, and Hennessey chipped in with eight digs and three blocks.

Daniel Boone 3, Twin Valley 2 >> The Blazers went back-and-forth with the Raiders before claiming victory in the fifth set. Boone won the Berks Conference contest with victories in the second (25-21), fourth (25-14) and fifth (15-9) sets while TV gook the first (25-21) and third (25-12).

Madison Kessler had 10 kills, four blocks and three aces for the Blazers (2-1, 2-2), with Haley Schinski adding eight kills, six digs and one ace. Devon Haag contributed 23 assists, five digs and two aces, and Marissa Rapposelli had 10 digs, five kills and one ace.
