Mercury-Area Boys Golf Roundup: Spina uncatchable, PJP tops Phoenixville

Pope John Paul II 193, Phoenixville 206 >> J.T. Spina was uncatchable on the Landis Creek course, coming away with low-man honors to key the Golden Panthers’ PAC victory over the Phantoms.
Spina’s 34 put him well ahead of the 38s carded by teammate James Poot and Phoenixville’s James Peterson. PJP came away carding five of the match’s eight lowest scores.

Spring-Ford 181, Pottsgrove 219 >> John Lumley shot a team-low 32 to lead the Rams over the Falcons in PAC play at Blackwood G.C (Par 35).

Connor Boham followed close behind with a 36 while Thomas Feeed and Jack Straub each carded a 37. Ben Pochet rounded out the SF scorecard with a 39. Josh Keppley and Spencer Mitchell each shot a team-low 42 for Pottsgrove.

Boyertown 221, Upper Perkiomen 223 >> Though Anthony Boyle claimed low-man honors for the Indians, the Bears were able to edge their PAC guests at Macoby Run.

Following Boyle’s 41, Boyertown had 42s from Kyle Green and Mark Engler — matching a similar result by UP’s Deion Doperak — and 44s from Jim Gassner and Bryan Bilanin.

Owen J. Roberts 186, Perkiomen Valley 202 >> Tommy Opitz shot a 1-under 33 to lead the Wildcats’ charge in a PAC win over the Vikings at Kimberton Golf Club.

Ryan Glenn followed with a 1-over 35 while Matt Folk shot a 36. Ward McHenry (40) and Nick Massa (42) rounded out the OJR scorecard. Dallen Hall and Eric Martin each finished at 39 to lead PV while Andrew Burkhardt followed with a 40.
